SueSB says "Mother's milk is just what baby needs and deserves" about Breastfeeding Opinion

It's clear that mother's milk is best for babies AND for the breastfeeding family. It's also clear that feeding artifical milk is inferior. — La Leche League really helped me learn the art of breastfeeding. Occasionally we hear of women who had some trouble getting off to a successful start. We don't as often hear from the women whose babies latched right on and had no troubles. They are the majority, but people seem to more often share the hard times. That's just human nature. — While breastfeeding is completely natural, that doesn't always mean it comes naturally to every mother. Women can find information and support from a local La Leche League Leader (www.llli.org). I know that attending La Leche League meetings helped me get my first daughter off to a good start and the support continued with my second baby. —...

SueSB says "Awesome pocket diapers, easy to use cloth" about Fuzzi Bunz Pocket Diapers

I make my own pocket diapers, but acquired a Fuzzi Bunz that I love! If I were going to buy cloth diapers, these are what I would buy. — Pocket diapers are my favorites, and Fuzzi Bunz perform well. We started out using disposables on my first daughter, so I was used to the trim fit of them. Fuzzi Bunz fit trim and go on easily, as disposables do. When my sisters change the baby, they can't figure out how to put on some of our cloth diapers, but they have no problems with Fuzzi Bunz. — I love that they use plastic snaps instead of hook-and-loop tape. The rows of snaps make them very adjustable for many sizes and baby shapes (chubby legs, skinny legs, potbelly, skinny waist). — The PUL outer fabric is nice and waterproof. I have never had a wicking or leaking problem with the Fuzzi Bunz. The liner is microfleece, which is soft on my baby's bum and the wetness goes through it to whatever absorbent material you stuff the diaper with, rather than sitting against her...

SueSB says "I can't think of anything more useless" about Baby Einstein Videos

The whole idea of television for babies, when we hear again and again that children under 2 really should not watch any, is appalling. But I'll get off my soapbox and admit that sometimes it's helpful to have a video to pop in just long enough to hop in the shower or make an important phone call. Just so we're not fooling ourselves into thinking it's educational, I want to make clear that this is babysitting instead of learning. — I borrowed some Baby Einstein videos for my daughter to watch. She was completely uninterested. They were mind-numbingly boring for me and my husband. —...

SueSB says "They're stuffed with poly fill, which is not absorbent" about Gerber Cotton Training Pants

I would not recommend these training pants. The material inside the crotch area is a polyester fiberfill. It adds fluffiness, but is not absorbent! — On the positive side, these are easy to pull on and off and they have two layers of cotton in the crotch. It's just that the stuffing is worthless. — Instead I like the terrycloth pants from my local variety store. They have a couple layers of terry in the wetting area and therefore are more absorbent. —...

SueSB says "Works pretty well, converts to a low stepstool" about Graco Soft Seat Trainer

We got this seat for my older daughter when she was potty training and now my toddler is trying it out. It sits nice and square on the floor without fear of tipping over, which is nice. We have another model that is more tippy. — The cushy seat is probably a nice extra. It's nice that it lifts off to go on the big potty. When my daughter got older, but her bottom was still too small for the big potty, we used this. It saves from having to buy a separate seat for that stage. — The step stool isn't the greatest. It's not very high. I was thinking she would be able to use the potty, then close it and use the stool to wash her hands, but she couldn't reach. She barely used it as a stool. It's also probably a little flimsy to stand on as a stool, but my daughter was quite light so she had no problem. — I like that the bowl lifts out easily to dump. We have a different model where the bowl slides in the back and that's a bit more cumbersome. —...

SueSB says "Safe, easy get child in/out, but heavy, hard to install" about Evenflo Triumph 5 Car Seat

I would buy this car seat again. I bought it because it was highly rated on Consumer Reports and also fit my car well. While it is heavy and not the easiest to figure out and install, once it is installed it is very easy to adjust to get the child in and out. The straps are easy to loosen and tighten, which is not the case on our other car seat. — If you'll be moving your car seat from vehicle to vehicle a lot, this might not be the best choice. But if you'll pretty much install it and leave it put, this is excellent. — There was a recent recall because the styrofoam under the fabric could possibly be removed by the child (never happened to me though). Evenflo sent me some covers to put over the styrofoam. —...
