ScootiesMommy says "The produce was pathetic - I was sorely disappointed" about Wild Oats - Las Vegas, NV

I was in Las Vegas visiting my daughter and needed organic food. Boy, was I excited to hear there was a Wild Oats nearby. Damn, was I disappointed when I got there and found the produce section. I was embarassed to show my daughter the salad items were organic, and trying to find lactose-free, soy-free, wheat-free bread-like items was a joke. At home in Seattle it's not a problem. I really expected much better service and selection from a national...

ScootiesMommy says "Second Hand Dogs Give First Class Love!" about Dog Rescues

I'm a reformed backyard breeder and have been doing rescue as a foster mom for almost ten years. Because of all the health problems I ran into with my own dogs, I naturally migrated into special needs care of Yorkies with Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue originally, and now with Compassionate Animial Rescue now that SPDR does not have a Yorkie rep. — — Fostering is immensely satisfying and also heart-breaking. My job as a foster is to return these babies to health, evaluate them for their forever homes, and then help match them with the right placement. There have been times when fosters don't get adopted, and they just turn into forever dogs in my own home, which is just okay with hubby and me, because it's the more the merrier as far as we're concerned. We got into fostering when we lost our own babies and went from six Yorkies to only three over the course of just 2 1/2 years and it got wayyy too quiet in our house. :) — —...

ScootiesMommy says "Best VideoGame for Newbies Young & Old!" about Nintendo Wii Console

— First played the Wii with our grandkids over the summer and fell in love. Been a computer user for decades, and played our games there, never having felt the need for a video console. Now I'm hooked on the Wii, and we're hooking all our friends (multi-generational) on the Wii, as well. We take our controllers with us to friends's houses so we can bowl there, my 60-year-old husband only wanted videogames and gift cards for videogames for Christmas. — — I have a chronic pain & fatigue condition called fibromyalgia, and the Wii has been great for getting me some gentle exercise, as well as an opportunity hang out in the evenings actually doing something with hubby, instead of tucking in for the night in front of the...

ScootiesMommy says "Useful for Grown-ups trying to keep their brain Active!" about Nintendo Wii - Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree

I have fibromyalgia, which comes with cognitive dysfunction in addition to chronic pain & fatigue. We got the Wii so I could also get some gentle exercise, as well as stretch my brain with this game. I was hoping this game would be comparable to Brain Age (which it is not), but it provides enough mental stimulation to keep me entertained, as well as actually getting back some of the mental function I thought I'd lost to this condition. — — The professor, and the way the scoring is set up is annoying to say the least. But I can deal with that. Over all, it's good enough for what I...

ScootiesMommy says "Better than most." about Delta Airlines

When traveling I need to use a wheelchair in the airport and between gates, and the airline and flight attendants always had that for action, even before I told them. Not all airlines do that. — With all the talk about late flights, my husband had been watching very closely to be sure that the flights were on time and that we didn't miss our connections. All our flights were on time (SURPRISE!). — We were supposed to have a snack, but it consisted of a package containing two crackers, a bit of cheese spread, a few raisins and a small cookie. Since I can't eat wheat, soy, MSG or dairy, I had brought my own meal, and I was really glad I did! —...

ScootiesMommy says "They treated US right!" about Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Wasn't sure whether we'd have a good experience after all the things I'd read in reviews about Enterprise, but we got to the small regional airport late in the day on a Thursday afternoon. The compact we had reserved was gone and so we were upgraded to a Nissan Murano, a nice SUV (horrible gas mileage, though). — The manager (only one person doing all the tasks) didn't write down a large scratch on the left rear bumper, and I made my husband go back in and have her identify it on her copy. I'd heard of people getting charged for just that sort of thing and I didn't want us to be one of them. We left before the rental car counter opened, so all we had to do was drop the keys in a slot on the desk and we were done. Charges were just what they said they were. — Overall, we were pretty happy with them. They would have gotten 5 stars if the gas tank had been full instead of "close to full," and if the inspection of the...

ScootiesMommy says "It's good enough, but not great.Stay there cuz it's non-smoking!" about Comfort Suites - Jacksonville, NC

Because we were from the west coast, we slept in a little later than people on the east coast. There were no Do Not Disturb signs, so we had to ask for one of those. Then housekeeping didn't come back to do our room after we left in late morning. Same thing second day. We had to keep asking them to come back and clean our room. We think that's unacceptable. This is supposed to be the top echelon of the hotel chain, and I've had better service from their lower rung establishments. — That being said, the in-room microwave and refrigerator was nice, the air-conditioning worked well, and the shower was good. The breakfasts were outstanding, when we could wake up early enough to get down there to eat them (9 a.m. endings of breakfast for west coast people means we're up by 6 a.m. our time). The hot waffles were yummy, according to hubby, although being allergic to wheat, soy & dairy, there wasn't much in the line-up for me to eat...
