So, full disclosure, I got this exfolitating polish on the cheap from work but I had to write about it because it's so amazing. I don't know much about beauty products, but I know that this one really works. After the first use, my skin felt really REALLY soft - I loved it!! It washes away dirt and grime and evens out skin - you only need to use it once or twice a week and ta-da! beautiful soft skin. Two thumbs up!
...

Sara1231 says "Decent iPhone case ... could be better" about Case Crown - iPhone Case

I researched a bunch of iPhone cases when I decided to purchase the iPhone 3GS earlier this summer. It's such an expensive piece of hardware I wanted to make sure I had the tools to protect it. (And, I'm notoriously clumsy with electronics..and everything else.)

Other reviews I had read said this semi-hard case would protect agaisnt falls and keep my precious phone safe, while preserving the classic look of the iPhone. Does it preserve the look? Yes, and the soft material makes your phone very easy to handle. But! I dropped my phone while getting out of the car and it just so happened to land on one of the places not covered by the case - both the top and bottom areas of the phone are left pretty open. So yes, my new phone now has a dink in it.

Bottom line: I'd suggest something with more coverage if you know you're not the most careful of phone owners.
...

When I don't want to splurge on O.P.I nail polish, Sally Hansen is the brand I go to. This line offers great choices in colors, stays on without chipped (at least for a few days...) and has a great, shiny finish. Love it!
...

Sara1231 says "Great Volumizer!" about Big Sexy Hair Root Pump

I’ve always thought of my hair as big…but I’ve realized recently that it’s not big so much as full of frizz. And when I try to combat that frizz with my Chi Flat Iron, it’s a success! But so much for big, voluminous hair. Since I tend to blow dry my hair, I thought about investing in a volumizer. I went with Big Sexy Hair Root Pump after noticing it on the shelves of several of my girlfriends. My thoughts: I love it!

Here are the great aspects of this hair styling product:

You get HUGE volume. The first time I sprayed this product into the roots of my hair and blow dried it, you could have mistaken my full head of hair for a wig. Seriously, it’s that good. There’s a trick to getting the va-va-voom volume, though. Hold your head upside down and blow-dry the roots, letting gravity do its magic. If you blow-dry your hair upright, it’ll just be flat.

No frizz! This product does the work of a serum and keeps frizz and flyaways at bay.

It lasts all day. Once you blow dry...

...

Sara1231 says "The iPhone 3GS has changed my life!" about Apple - iPhone 3GS Cell Phone

I've been drooling over the iPhone 3Gs since it came out this summer. In fact, I've been drooling over all the iPhone models since they were released. Until now, I've been stuck with a Sony Erickson Walkman phone which pales in comparison to the iPhone or other smartphones. Since I use the Internet all the time and like to check my emails hourly, the iPhone has always seemed ideal. So when my Sony Erickson phone broke for the third time, I decided it was time to consider an upgrade. Enter the iPhone 3GS.

Here's what I was looking for in my new phone:

Fast Internet

Email updates

Calendar function

Camera

Video

Maps

Easy to use -- I'm pretty good at technology but not a genius.

So how does the iPhone 3Gs measure up? So far, so good! I love it.

Here are the best parts of the iPhone:

Fast processing. It really is speedy, that is, when you have a good internet connection or are in 3G range. As soon as the connection starts to go down, so does the speed. In most major cities and suburbs,...
...

Sara1231 says "Northwestern is the perfect blend - campus feel by the big city!" about Northwestern University

I’m currently a junior in the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. I love NU and couldn’t be happier with my college selection. It wasn’t easy though. From big Midwestern state schools to NYU, I found nailing down the “perfect college” to be one of the most stressful decisions of my life. I’m a serious student but wanted to enjoy my four years away at school (while still working hard). I had good grades so I wanted to take advantage of top-rated schools but didn’t want to be swimming in debt for decades after graduation. Finally, a week before deposits were due from schools, I decided on Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois. And it’s been a great two years so far!

I know what it’s like to be going back and forth between schools so here’s a break down of life at NU – see if it’s what you’re looking for in a university.

Northwestern Basics

• Acceptance - Northwestern is a very selective school.

This is a great product that allows you to take all your music on your ipod and put it on your computer. It's really easy to download and it's FREE! The interface is basically the same as itunes so it's super easy to use also. It works the same as itunes only instead of dragging music to your ipod you are dragging music to your itunes. You can quickly and easily convert everything on your ipod to your mac in a matter of minutes!

It's great if you:

Get music from other people's computers so your ipod library is bigger than your itunes library

Got a new computer and want to update your library

iTunes failed

Hard drive crashed and you lost your music

The only down side about senuti (itunes spelled backwards) is that it is only for mac use. Sorry PC users!...

Sara1231 says "I've learned to like this phone" about Sony Ericsson - W580i Cell Phone

I upgraded to this phone after my Motorola SLVR started to fall apart. What I was looking for in a phone was music capabilities, a decent camera, NOT a flip phone, and something affordable and so after shopping for a while I decided on the Sony 580i.

What I do like about this phone:

It's a slider. I had a regular flat phone before and liked not having to flip it open but I really like the slide function. It takes a little while to get used to if you've had a different kind of phone before but I like that you can still do things on your phone while it's not technically open and the slide function ensures that the phone is small and compact.

The camera is GREAT! This was my biggest concern when I bought the phone, but I just got back from a trip to San Francisco and took wondeful pictures using the 2.0 megapixel camera.

Volume options allow you to change volume easily without having to listen to rings get louder or softer. This was a big problem that I had to deal with my other phone...

...

Sara1231 says "Great for people addicted to blowdrying or straightening" about John Frieda Frizz Ease Hair Serum, UV/Thermal Protection Formula 1.69 oz

I was blessed with thick fine hair, otherwise known as one of the hardest hair types to calm in even the driest of temperatures. For years I’ve struggled with my coarse messy mane. I blow-dry and straighten it almost every morning and while it remains somewhat controlled, I began to notice the damage of this torturous morning routine on my stringy strands. Looking for something that would leave my hair smooth and healthy, I came across John Frieda’s Hair Serum: UV/Thermal Protection and I swear by it. If I smooth two pumps of the serum on towel dried hair in the morning, I don’t even have to blow dry or straighten. My hair stays smooth all day! When I do style my hair after applying the serum, my hair stays silky instead of feeling stringy and fried. The bottle is pretty small but it goes a long way. I have really long thick hair and use two-pumps but the average person would probably only need one. The bottle is $10 but lasts up to two months if you use it sparingly so it’s pretty......

Sara1231 says "Best BBQ Chicken Salad Around" about Bat 17 - Evanston, IL

As a student, I'm pretty much confined to dining at Burger King or Panera (if I'm feeling extravagant). Especially in the somewhat pricey area of Evanston, Illinois it's hard to find good food for cheap. However, I've been in love with Bat 17, a deli-style restaurant in downtown Evanston, since discovering it earlier this year. It's a really small and cozy venue with self-seating and a bar that specializes in "pub style" dining. Sandwiches or salads are very affordable. If you order an entree with a water or fountain drink you can get away with paying about $15 (tip and tax included). The portions are pretty big but they offer half-salads for half the price which is perfect for students living on a budget. They also offer complimentary coffee (you don't even have to be a customer -- they encourage people to stop in to grab a cup of jo in hopes of enticing them to return later).

I have to admit though that the only reason I go to Bat 17 is the BBQ Chicken Salad. I'm not a salad eater. Salads......

Sara1231 says "Wall-E is Sure to be A Summer Smash" about Wall-E

I’ve always been a fan of Disney movies and getting older I’m not ashamed to admit that Pixar flicks are probably my favorite. I was a little unconvinced, though, watching previews for Wall-E. Could this high-tech themed film really compare to classics like Toy Story and Finding Nemo? I’m usually more of a traditional girl: I’ll take my Aladdin over Stitch any day. And to top it off, Wall-E has almost no dialog. Robots jetting around and not even talking? I thought it was a long shot but whether it was out of boredom or curiosity I found myself at the midnight showing on opening night expecting to find the theater to be empty.

I couldn’t have been more wrong or more surprised. The theater was packed with an audience primarily made up of adults, ranging from 18-30. And Wall-E did not disappoint. From the short clip that always precedes Pixar films to the end of the movie, we were all roaring with laughter. In fact, I would venture to say that the clip about a magician and his magic......

As a student I can't afford all the labels I love. IamFashion, which is written by two students, is a great way to learn about and discuss all the trends and get affordable suggestions on how to pull off a current look on a budget. I've perused several fashion blogs like Jezebel and La Coquette. However, IamFashion updates more frequently with more relevant posts about specific designers.

This is a good site if you really just want insight on spring/summer or fall/winter shows or want ideas for how to wear the latest from TopShop, H & M and Forever21.

There is very little gossip on this blog, which I like.

IamFashion is also not limited to apparel. They often update on technology and gadgets like the new Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism, magazines like CosmoGirl and Seventeen and films like Sex and the City - the Movie.

Recently posts have been less frequent because the two authors have had other commitments. Hopefully they'll have more time to blog once Fall Fashion Week 2008 rolls around!...

Sara1231 says "The Hush Sound Gets Better With Each Album" about Goodbye Blues * by The Hush Sound

I've been a fan of the Hush Sound since their first studio album So Sudden. Their sound keeps developing and I really like the blues-y transition they have made on their latest record, Goodbye Blues. Each track is different, from up-beat pop songs to melancholy ballads they have really expanded their sound. My only criticism of Goodbye Blues is that I think we don't get enough diversity in the vocalists. I think Greta has an amazing voice but So Sudden and Like Vines featured both Greta Salpeter, Bob Morris and Darren Wilson equally which was always a signiture of the band: their varying vocals. The songs are great, I just wish we heard more from the guys!...

I'm not usually a huge fragrance wearer. I tend to find most scents overbearing for every day use. However, I got Marc Jacob's Daisy Eau de Toilette spray this year and am in love with it! It's a light but distinct scent that doesn't overpower my senstive nose. Previously I've been hooked on Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker but the floral hint in Daisy is more appropriate for summer. I'm not a huge fan of the packaging -- I think the white daisy top is a little gaudy but as far as the product goes, I was very impressed!
