RutgersFan says "Venus razor -- great grip, and a super-smooth shave." about Gillette Venus

I bought the Gillette Venus system with the handle and replaceable heads. They also give a handy display case for the shower, which sticks to the shower wall, no problem. It has a little hinged door on it; it holds five disposable heads inside, and the handle snaps into the outside, with or without a razor head.

I love the shave this razor gives -- very smooth, no irritation at all. The handle has great contours to make it easy to hold and manipulate around the leg without dropping it.

I should note that I tried the full handle disposable version as well, because I thought it would be easier to take with me on vacations... but I don't like it nearly as much. The blades irritated my legs and I didn't get many shaves out of them. So if you've tried the disposables and didn't love them, try the system instead... it's much better! And if you like the disposables, you'll LOVE the system!!
...

RutgersFan says "Helps me sleep better" about Breathe Right Nasal Strips

Does Breathe Right stop me from snoring? No, not according to my husband. It LESSENS it, but doesn't eliminate it. Fortunately, he has evolved and can sleep through the racket now.

BUT ... I still refuse to sleep without my Breathe Right strip. I wear one every night without fail. It really helps hold open the nasal air passageways. It makes sleeping so much more comfortable. I used to wake up with horribly caked up dry-mouth and a thick, pasty tongue from breathing through my mouth all night long ... not anymore.

Sleep is much more deep and restful with Breathe Right. I buy the large boxes at Sam's Club or Costco ... 38 strips for about $10. It's more than worth the price.

The only down side is removing the strip in the morning ... you must be sure to wet it very thoroughly first, otherwise, you'll leave a mark and it can hurt! But hey, if it didn't stick really well it wouldn't do its job, so if that's the trade-off, I'll take it.
...

RutgersFan says "It really works!" about Airborne

I have family members who roll their eyes about Airborne and think that I'm a sucker for falling into a big ol' marketing trap ... they say it's nothing but fizzy vitamins. But you know what? They still get sick, and I don't ... and I give all the credit to Airborne.

Whenever I travel, I'm surrounded by coughing, sneezing people and I used to get sick after plane flights without fail (all that illness in the recirculating air for hours!). I can't tell you how many vacations and business trips were ruined by colds. But not since I discovered Airborne! Now, I always make sure to dose up on Airborne before any trip or any long day with crowds or lots of kids around, and believe me, I haven't gotten a cold even once.

It's hard to prove a negative (I remember on The Simpsons, little Lisa tried to demonstrate this folly to her father by telling him that "there haven't been any tiger attacks since I picked up this rock" ... to which he replied "How much do you want for your magic Tiger Repelling...
...

RutgersFan says "Light -- doesn't weigh my hair down" about Dove Conditioner

I have very thick and heavy hair, and that poses a dilemma -- I really NEED a good conditioner to keep it soft and manageable, yet it's hard for me to find a conditioner that doesn't weigh down my hair and leave it flat and listless.

Dove Conditioner does the trick. It's very light and rinses away completely. Yet, it does its job beautifully -- it leaves my hair soft, and shiny, and it responds very well to styling.

Many things contribute to my conditioner needs -- I blow dry daily, since my hair is so thick it stays wet FOREVER if I don't (I keep it above shoulder length, but still, it would be wet for hours if I simply towel-dry.) Also, I get it colored in a salon every month. So a good conditioner is essential. Most of them are just too heavy and weigh down my hair. Not Dove.

The scent is pleasant, too -- light, fresh, clean, Slightly floral, with baby powder notes. It's a gentle fragrance, so there are no worries about it competing with perfume or your shampoo scent (if you use...
...

RutgersFan says "Magical, unforgettable city" about Paris, France

Paris is an absolute must-visit -- just walking along the streets and looking at the gorgeous buildings and cozy cafes is a treat. But the landmarks are unforgettable -- the masterpieces of the Louvre, the bateaux-mouches tour boats on the Seine, the magnificent Notre Dame, the graceful Eiffel Tower, the elegant Champs d'Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, the dramatic Sacre Couer basilica. There's something to thrill everyone in Paris.

I have visited several times, and my favorite way to experience the City of Light is to rent an apartment on the Left Bank. There are plenty of reliable rental agencies, easy to find online. The cost is so much less than hotels, and having access to a kitchen (and hopefully a terrace) is a real treat. There are so many lovely shops nearby -- buy fresh baguettes, pastries, jams, cheeses, wine, pate, etc. and enjoy them at leisure in your apartment. Live like a local, it's the best way to go!

Use the subways; they're easy to navigate and will bring you just about...
...

RutgersFan says "Cast iron cooking surface is a real treat" about Weber Silver B Grill

I've owned this grill for seven years and it has never failed me. It's an outdoor grill that we've hooked up to our house gas line, so we never have to worry about propane tanks and running out at a bad time. We have it on our deck, and though we live in New Jersey, I use it year-round, even in the dead of winter.

I love the taste and healthfulness of grilled foods and cook just about everything on it -- chicken, pork, steaks, burgers, sausages, shrimp, salmon, all kinds of vegetables... even fruit! Grilled summer peaches and caramelized pineapple are outstanding accompaniments to grilled pork chops!

I chose the optional cast iron grate as a cooking surface and this has turned out to be the best feature. It attains a really high heat and sears food beautifully, makes those gorgeous grill lines, and always imparts maximum flavor.

I love to entertain and the broad cooking surface makes it a breeze to whip up big batches of food for large crowds -- I usually put out platters of grilled...
...

RutgersFan says "Smells great ... protects my color" about Garnier Fructis Color Shield

I love to try new shampoos and am a big believer in rotating between several brands ... my hair is very thick and heavy and tends to get weighed down and look flat if I use the same shampoo too many times in a row. I love Garnier Fructis with Color Shield for this purpose especially ... it leaves my hair really squeaky clean, but it's not harsh or damaging. The Color Shield protects my salon color and leaves it bright and glowing.

The consistency of the shampoo is silky and it lathers quickly, It rinses out very quickly, thoroughly and easily. I find that my hair is very soft and manageable when using this brand, it really responds to my round brush when blow drying. My hair winds up clean and bouncy. Best of all, I really love the fragrance -- it's sort of like a green apple scent. Very invigorating; it cheers me up just to smell it!

They sell it in a very large bottle (32 oz. I think) at Costco, and that makes it a terrific bargain. This is good stuff, Garnier Fructis is a must in...
...

RutgersFan says "So glad we finally bought one! LOVE the spa!" about Master Spas Legend Series Spa

My husband and I thought about getting a spa for a long time, then finally we visited a spa home improvement show and got to see a whole bunch of them on display at once. We loved the Master Spas Legend Series spa because it had two very cool features -- Foot Blasters (powerful multi-jets for the feet) and a seat with downward-pointing jets to massage the shoulders. Works wonders on tired feet and stiff necks. The spa is easy to maintain with minimal chemicals (we already have a pool, so we're familiar with water balance and chlorination issues already). We live in NJ and used it all winter long; what a treat when it's cold outside. It's a treat year-round, actually! We LOVE it and are so glad we finally bought one.
...
