This is a review of Bank of America Investment Services, which includes brokerage services only.

The registration process needs a major overhaul and trade execution and research tools are nothing special. Commissions and fees vary widely depending on a number of factors. Bank of America Investment Services is just not ready for prime time.

Commissions and Fees (Pass/Fail) - Pass, for those that qualify for $10 stock trades, do not trade options and are exempt from paying the general account fee

OnlineBrokerReview says "Zecco is a great value" about Zecco

Zecco offers perhaps the best value around. No other online broker that I've tested can match their trading prices. Beyond the trading fees, Zecco has a good registration process and an excellent trading engine. Charts and research tools are not as stellar but these drawbacks should not deter the bargain investor. Zecco is highly recommended.

Schwab has top notch research tools, and acceptable commissions and fees. Schwab loses some marks for a mediocre registration process and average charts but I still recommend the service.

Fidelity has really great research tools. Beyond that, they offer nothing impressive that stacks up well against the best online brokers.

TD Ameritrade does everything right but falls flat with poor trade execution for limit trades. If this flaw was fixed I would gladly recommend the service but as is, it is a fatal flaw in my view.

ShareBuilder fails on multiple fronts. Charts are terrible. Research tools are non-existant for basic account holders. Finally, the lack of true limit order trading is a death blow.
