Wings for Children is a state-wide child advocacy organization based in Myrtle Beach, SC. They monitor state agencies charged with helping children and try to bring about changes for better services to children. Wings for Children works with children who are abused, abandoned or stolen and strives to offer them hope that tomorrow will be better. — Wings For Children has never accepted a fee of any kind. It is funded personally by its Founder, Karole Jensen, and through private donations. — They have a valuable network of people that care about these children and who are willing to give time, attention and hard work on their behalf. Their dedication comes from the outrage they feel for the plight of abused abandoned, neglected and missing children. — The Angel Wings program was formally organized following the financial support of the Energizer Senior Tour Championship of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. — This affiliate...

Murrells-Inlet-Gal says "Uses more ink than any other copier I've owned!" about Canon PIXMA™ MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

In the past, the company I work for had a Canon all-in-one copier. It worked good, was simply to run and lasted for about 5 years. When it came time to get a new copier, I figured that I couldn't go wrong if I bought another Canon product. — I purchased the Canon PIXMA MP830 and really have not been happy with it. For one, it has 2 black cartridges and 3 color cartridges. If any cartridge is empty, there are numerous steps you have to go through in order to get the printer to print. I very seldom use any of the color cartridges and have, in fact, set the default to print in black regardless of the original copy. Yet, my color cartridges run out quickly and replacements are costly! — Many times the papers I am trying to copy get caught up when they are coming through the machine and consequently the paper is damaged, so I have to print another copy which is a waste of money. —...

Murrells-Inlet-Gal says "Great when you have dogs!" about Airwick Ultra Sprayer

I am a dog owner, in fact, I have three dogs. During the summers down south it gets very hot and my dogs are confined to the sun room while I am at work. We have an awning outside of the sun room which cuts down on the sun/heat coming into the room quite a bit. Even with the air conditioner and fan going, I still tend to notice the doggie odor when I first get home. They are small, indoor dogs who are constantly groomed but I felt that it was time to put something in there that would take care of the smell. — I tried everything, but the safest and freshest smelling item I tried was the Air Wick Freshmatic Room Deodorizer. It runs on two AA batteries and it lasts a long time. There are 3 time setting for the fragrance to be dispensed. I set it for the longest period of time and if I find that it needs an extra spray (if guests are coming) I can...

Murrells-Inlet-Gal says "Spent more time removing jammed paper than shredding!" about Ativa CX10B

We are a small office and have always shredded our papers rather than tearing them up and thowing them away. Our old shredder was getting tired, so we purchased a 10 sheet cross-cut Ativa model CX10B paper shredder. One of the main reasons we purchased this particular model was because it had a special place for credit cards. As many business owners know, there are always credit card offers coming through the mail on a daily basis, so we wanted to make sure that those cards were shredded. We also wanted to make sure that any old credit cards could be shredded as well. Little did I know, that "feature" would be responsible for every jam that shedder ever had. I blame the constant jams on the poor design and placement of the credit card shredder feature. It hung up everything and I ended up spending more time fixing jams than I did shredding paper. — I called Office Depot since I purchased it there...

A few years ago I was experiencing headaches just about every day for more than a year . Several days a month I would have migraines. I had seen several doctors, had all kinds of tests but none of doctors could seem to find out why I was getting these headaches. The last doctor just put me on Imatrex and sent me home. — A friend of mine told me that she had severe headaches too and found out that the aspartame sweetener in her soda was the cause of her headaches. I didn't drink soda but at that time was drinking at least 8 glasses a day of flavored, aspartame sweetened water. — I decided to do some experimenting on my own and for the next full week I only drank spring water. IT WAS A MIRACLE...my headaches were gone. I couldn't believe that the aspartame sweetener was the cause of more than one year's worth of headaches, but it...

Murrells-Inlet-Gal says "Worth watching over and over!" about The Notebook

My dad passed away from Alzheimer's, so this story was very near and dear to me. In fact, this movie made such an impression on me that I started volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association. Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease and I pray that none of you have to experience living with it or caring for someone who has it. I hope someday that there will be a cure. — "The Notebook" was beautifully done and one that I would watch over and over again (that is very rare for me). Be prepared to get out the tissues! —...

Recently I went to the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC to see KC & The Sunshine Band (I still love disco) and discovered that there were no seats for the audience. Lots of times at live entertainment you are up and out of your seat, but during the breaks and when you get tired (as us baby boomers do) it would be nice to have a place to sit and relax. — We had to leave about half-way through the show because people were constantly bumping into us, dancing on our feet and blowing smoke in our faces. For the amount you pay for a ticket, the HOB ought to be able to afford seating! —...

A charity that serves the needs of premature and newborn babies... — I was thrilled when I read that the "Tucker County, West Virginia, Newborns In Need Inc., sponsored six baskets full of donated items to the Slaughter family to help cut the financial costs of having five premature babies". — I am sure the parents were so thankful and it makes me happy to know that I can support an organization such as this! — — ...
