Megs530 says "For a baby with facial rash milk allergies--worth every penny," about Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic Formula

After exclusively breast-feeding, I started my 4 month old on solid foods to help slow down my extreme weight loss and discovered he was allergic to formula--he instantly developed a facial rash! I tried the "gentlease" partially digested protein formulas, lactose-free, and even soy formula, and he still had facial rashes after even two bites of cereal made with formula. If he smeared the cereal on his arms, the rash appeared there too! After switching to Alimentum he hasn't experienced any more rashes and I feel like he is getting the nutrients he needs from solid foods and needs to nurse less. While I am definitely glad I decided to breast feed, as this formula would be out of my price range is he needed it en mass, it is fine for supplementing cereal and the occasional four ounce sippy cup. It also appears that he is beginning to outgrow his milk allergy, which means that as he nears a year old he will probably be able to handle cow's milk. It seems like a lot of cash to fork......

Megs530 says "Curl up and get lost inside a wonderful book." about Diane Setterfield - The Thirteenth Tale

Obviously, the author is an avid reader herself--I felt completed identified. Despite some distressing character situations, I found myself thoroughly involved in the story, surprised by the plot twists, and sympathetic to the characters, including their flaws and struggles. I found the story a complete page-turner with fabulous characters and descriptions, beautiful writing, and a "make you feel better while you stay up late curled under your reading blanket getting lost in a new wonderful world" type of story....

Megs530 says "Not for the lazy or faint of heart--this is a workout!" about Dance Dance Revolution - For Nintendo Wii

For someone who had only tried the original DDR maybe twice before, I was surprised to get this for a birthday present. As a life-time dancer and musician who considers herself very coordinated, I was surprised at how difficult it really is! That's not to say it's too frustrating--I found myself very motivated to retry stages--even on the beginning or basic level--to improve from a D to a B rating. Even my husband, who prefers flying/racing/fighting styles games, kept getting back on the pad to aim for a better score. I also caught my 50+ father practicing the other day so he could beat me...

That said, the costs for the Wii version add up quickly--you need to buy an additional pad for multiple player modes and it seems like on the Kokonami pad responds properly. Also, take off the Wii hand settings and "gimmick" settings--which add more complexity and allow you to make it harder on your opponents--unless you're VERY confident in your skills.
...

Megs530 says "Who hasn't wanted to wield their own lego lightsaber?" about Nintendo Wii - Lego StarWars

This 1 or 2 player game lets you play through all 6 sagas of the Star Wars series simultaneously, so if you get stuck on one level in one you can play a different saga for a change of pace. The graphics are great--all lego--and there are lots of hidden features beyond the basic levels to keep you coming back for more. In the initial play, your character is selected automatically according to the original Star Wars script, but you can switch back and forth between all characters on the level as needed. For instance, the jedi use the force to move and assemble objects, but don't have guns and it can be easier to fight as Luke or Leah. R2D2 or C3PO can't defend themselves, but are needed to open gates or work electronics--just like in the original series. After the saga is complete, it can be accessed by any unlocked character--including Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Palpatine, Ewoks...

For those who worry about its appropriateness for young kids, there is no graphic violence--hitting......

Megs530 says "Great family fun with enough new things to keep it interesting!" about Nintendo Wii - Olympic Games

I'd been contemplating this game in stores and decided to rent it before buying as I was still unsure--what a great surprise! My family found this game incredibly fun and entertaining, from young (7) to old (50 something...) everyone enjoyed it. The game has new things to unlock--new challenges, games, and circuits, but doesn't explain how to unlock them. New levels do keep in interesting, and the characters are fun and interactive. A great use of Wii technology, the controls are sensitive to real movements but not so delicate that you have to be a great gamer to succeed. Also, a great arm workout! If only this game had a power pad and I could use my legs like I do my arms I could throw away the treadmill......
