KinKent says "Knowledgeable Staff" about Staircase Rapids Ranger Station

Just wanted to give much deserved kudos to the rangers at the Staircase Rapids Trail Ranger Station in Olympic National Park. When we arrived, the ranger was giving detailed information to a couple who were hiking into the backcountry. When it was our turn, she gave us the same attention to detail and friendly service despite the fact we were going on a short two-mile hike. We really just expected to be handed an envelope to pay the park fee. Anyway, she's doing a great job there (sorry I didn't catch her name) and we were very impressed with her enthusiasm. The trail itself was an interesting, easy walk along the Skokomish River.

...

KinKent says "Gorgeous waterfront setting!" about Alderbrook Resort & Spa - Union, WA

Nestled on the scenic shores of Hood Canal and just two hours from Seattle, Washington, Alderbrook Resort & Spa seemingly has it all. Just a short drive from Seattle, it boasts spectacular views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains. The recently renovated resort has been very nicely furnished and thoughtfully decorated. Golf, tennis, a spa, indoor pool and water sports are mere steps away. And yet... something is lacking. The service just isn't as polished as it should be. Repeatedly small things marred a perfect stay. Things like no valet service (we checked in on a Thursday), no resort map or explanation of the facilities at check-in, and spotty maid service. Here are just a few examples:

**Although they served mojitos on the outside patio, they weren't available in the bar (the waitress said, "we don't have spearmint in here."

**Our waitress in the restaurant told us what the daily specials were, but said, "I won't go into all the details unless you're interested or we'll be here...
...

KinKent says "Spot On" about TripAdvisor

Relied heavily on TripAdvisor to plan a trip to Rome and Florence in November 2006. Made reservations at TripAdvisor's #1 ranked hotels in both cities. They were exactly as the reviews suggested. Both hotels and met and/or exceeded our expectations. If you take the time to read through all the reviews, you can weed out the "sour grapes" reviews and focus on the real pros & cons. We would have never selected those two hotels had we relied only on guide books.
...
