JKPS613 says "It's okay" about Apple - iPod Mini

I know that Apple supposedly has all the best products, but I kind of don't buy it. I've been using iPods for about three years now, and I keep having problem after problem. Okay, to be honest, my first one got stolen. It was an iPod classic, one of the first versions, and I adored it.

However, my next iPods? Not so great. I am displeased with the storage space. It's nice to have small iPods, but I would like to be able to put more music onto them.

Also, I have had one iPod that simply stopped charging. My iPod that I have now - the mini - does charge, but it does not STAY charged. The iPod will literally turn on by itself - even when it's locked - and start playing music. In the middle of the night, for instance. So when I want to use my iPod, chances are the battery is completely drained.

For both of these problems, I went on Apple's site to try & find some answers. It was a complete plain. I just kept getting the run-around - this link set me to that link, which sent me back to this...
...

JKPS613 says "Works well enough for me" about Celexa (Citalopram)

I suffer from a lot of anxiety problems, so naturally I went to my doctor a year or so ago. He didn't want to put me on anything too strong, for which I was thankful, and so he suggested Celexa. Celexa is technically an anti-depressant; however, if you have a mild anxiety disorder, it seems to work quite well.

I first started taking a small amount of Celexa for about six months. At first, it was working great. I felt happy - almost euphoric - and I was so much more relaxed. As a college student, I need all the help I can get keeping my stress levels down, and I noticed an improvement in my mood and in my attention span.

However, things started getting a little worse. My mood was a bit darker and I started having trouble sleeping again. I went to see my doctor, and he simply gave me a higher dose. Things started going well again, and I'm pleased to report that I am now back on my lower dosage with no problems.

The cool thing is that my doctor is certain that in a year or so he can start...
...

JKPS613 says "Pleasantly surprised" about Acer Aspire 5735Z

In December '08, my refurbished Compaq broke down. I needed to find a replacement FAST, because classes were starting in less than a month, and I'm a girl who relies heavily on her computer. It's safe to say that I spend more time ON the computer than OFF it.

Anyway, I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, etc., looking for the best deal for a great computer. I was on a budget - $500 or less. While at Best Buy, I noticed the "Acer" section. My interest was piqued, because I had never heard of an Acer product before. I examined the computers and realized that their prices were cheaper than the other computers'.

So my next step was checking out Acer's website, which is filled with great details. Also, when checking out forums, I noticed that Acer had almost always positive reviews.

The computer I chose - Acer 5735Z - is great for my needs. It uses Windows Vista, which is fine for me, and has great memory. It runs quite quickly and I've enjoyed most of the programs that came downloaded...
...

JKPS613 says "Miracle worker" about Proactiv Solution Acne Treatment

I've had mild acne problems since I was in early high school. It could be a lot worse, but it's bad enough that I've always found it aggravating, especially since I prefer to not wear makeup. For those of us who prefer a "natural look," having clear skin is a definite must.

I have tried tea tree oil, Neutrogena, Oxy, etc. However, due to my sensitive skin, some of these products have actually made things worse. I have found that the Proactiv skin care kit is a great solution. It doesn't inflame my skin and it WORKS. It works really quickly!

In the basic set-up, you get cleanser, toner, lotion. It also has a bonus: refining mask OR the green tea moisturizer. I would recommend the mask, since the kit comes with lotion.

If you feel like you need to, you can add some extras - there's an oil-free moisturizer with SPF 15 and a daily oil control, which is great for those with oily skin.

Although Proactive may seem more expensive, it frankly works better, and when you take into account...
...

JKPS613 says "Cheap, but still works well" about Pantene Multiple

If you're on a budget, but still want really great hair, I totally recommend Pantene products. I'm a college student, so saving money definitely means a lot to me. Since you can buy Pantene products in a "family size" bottle, there's a definite plus.

If I had the money, I would only buy salon shampoos. I am really picky about my hair. However, I simply don't have the money, and that's something I have to face. And since the economy is definitely drooping, I'm pretty sure that a lot of other people are feeling the same way.

Pantene could definitely have better quality - that's to be expected from a drugstore shampoo. Also, I have had problems with greasy hair, dry scalp, etc. I have a combination skin problem AND a combination hair problem (ouch). Pantene has a wide selection of products, so depending on what my hair is like, I can always find something. And, as previously mentioned, the price is great. The cool thing is that I have also noticed some positive results. When using Pantene,...
...

JKPS613 says "Delicious rolls, fantastic burger" about O'Charley's Restaurant - Acworth, GA

I love this restaurant! Their brunch is awesome, their drinks are awesome, their burgers are awesome, their rolls are awesome, their desserts are awesome! The whole place is awesome!
Also, the service is fantastic. I've been to other O'Charley's and have never had a bad experience, but the one in Acworth is the one I visit most often. In fact, I'm going tomorrow!...

JKPS613 says "Basically Fantastic" about Death Cab for Cutie

Death Cab for Cutie is a band that is popular with indie lovers and mainstream music lovers. Their lyrics are soulful and they have enough variety in their music that you can listen to them for days, weeks, whatever - without getting bored. This is a pretty refreshing changge from some of the more indie AND mainstream alternatives out there.

Some of my favorite songs are "Transatlanticism," "Tiny Vessels," "Soul Meets Body," and "The Sound of Settling." However, I truly feel that there is something for just about everyone in the music and lyrics of this extremely talented band.

They have also put out enough CDs that you can browse through each one, finding at least one song from one that you'll love. So if you don't find something you like, keep trying! The odds are really for you.

Also, the lead singer sings/sung for The Postal Service, another great band. In some ways, they are quite similar, but once you listen closely to the lyrics you can see some deep differences.

Anyway, if you...
...

JKPS613 says "Cute clothes, great prices!" about Roaman's Online Store

I recently discovered Roaman's when I was looking for alternatives to Lane Bryant. For all you plus-size girls, I think you probably know that while Lane Bryant does have some graet clothes, it also is wickedly expensive. Well, as a college student with very little income, I need bargains.

And, of course, the problem with shopping at plus-size departments in stores like Walmart or even Cato is that they don't really consider their plus-size shoppers primarily. They seem to think that their plus-size customers can either wear the exact same fashions as thin people, or that they don't mind wearing shirts that fit like tents.

Anyway, Roaman's is a great solution. They have a huge selection of clothes, accessories, etc. I recently purchased a swimsuit from there and it looks FANTASTIC. And let me tell you, I haven't worn a swimsuit in years. I simply could not find one that fits well and hides my tummy. The great thing is that the swimsuit only cost me $50 - a huge bargain for swimsuits -...
...

JKPS613 says "Great for kids/young adults" about Animorphs

Animorphs is a series I'll always treasure, although I've outgrown them. The books center around five kids and one alien - yes, alien - who use their "animal morphing" powers (actually an alien technology) to fight off...aliens. Parasitic aliens that crawl in through your ear canal and take over your mind. The scary part? You can't tell who has been taken and who hasn't been, because the ailens have complete access to your memories, behavior, etc. It's the perfect masquerade. And you may notice that this theme is popular with adults as well - it's almost like a classic.

Anyway, the books are intruiging, appropriate (no cursing, and although there is violence, it's very well written and not at all graphic), and edifying. When I read these as a child, I learned a lot about animals. A LOT. Animal behavior, environmental facts, etc. It's so great to find a book that actually makes learning fun, so you probably don't want to pass up this opportunity.

So if you're kid likes crime-fighting...
...

JKPS613 says "Love it!" about Country Living

I just adore this magazine! I love home decor magazines, even though I really don't have the money or space to start projects. Nonetheless, I get great decorating ideas from Country Living! And really, the price is great. If you do a little bit of searching on the Internet, you can definitely find some great bargains for a year's worth of issues.

Also, some magazines have great content, but terrible websites - not this one! The website is just as much fun as the 'zine. There are several categories - crafts, ideas, sweepstakes - for you to check out, and they constantly add new content.

The only negative? I would love to see more "cheap" decorating ideas, especially considering the economy at the moment. In spite of this, I still collect pictures and ideas, even ones that I don't have money for. I figure that even if I can't technically afford the ideas, I can probably find or create good knock-offs for most of them.
...

I signed up for a free trial of this magazine, and I was very excited because I adore home & garden magazines. The title sounds great, right? Better Homes and Gardens? Well, unfortunately, this magazine is actually pretty light on home decor. You find more tips about dieting, fashion, and whatnot than you do about home decor and how to run a home.

JKPS613 says "Worst purchase I ever made" about Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer

Here's my problem: I purchased this computer when I went away to college. You've probably noticed that Dell commercials center on students (at least, they used to). But the computer broke twice within one year - one time when it broke, the screen cracked; to be fair, that was probably something my roommate did. Maybe it was even something I did - all I know is that I looked at the computer one day and the screen was cracked on one side. I continued to use it (colleege student = no money), but the crack just got worse and spread. Eventually 1/4 of the screen was covered in this odd broken pixellation look.

The other time, which was actualy the first time it broke, the power cord stopped working. DHL came to pick it up, and the guy driving the DHL van told me and my mother that he picked up more broken Dells than anything else.

Eventually got rid of it for a refurbished Compaq laptop - way cheaper, and lasted way longer.
...
