Islander says "Steamy and Underrated Romance" about Two Moon Junction

Soft-core erotic and haunting. — April (Sherilyn Fenn) is to marry a man her snobby parents like but then falls in love with a blue-collar stud named Perry (Richard Tyson). April must reconcile the expectations of her family and her fiancee with the passion she feels for Perry. Typical of the Southern Belle attracted to the carny from the other side of the tracks. This film has some of the steamiest scenes ever. I saw it first on Showtime and promptly added it to my collection. — Milla Jovovich plays Samantha, April's little sister. Also featured: Kristy McNichol, Burl Ives, Louise Fletcher, Martin Hewett and Don Galloway. — I was surprised this film never really took off as a mainstream romance as there is tons of emotion and dilemma of a coming of age socialite in a hopeless relationship. —...

Islander says ""As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster" about Goodfellas

If you have a film collection this is a "Must have" along with Godfather I & II. — Based on the book Wiseguyby Nicholas Pileggi, the true story of mob informer Henry Hill. This is a classic that belongs in the top 10 Gangster films of all time. — The selection of actors playing the various characters is exceptional and quite believable. The plot is at times predictable but never disappointing and illustrates the lengths to which a mob mentality will go to see an end. You actually develop and type of friendship with the various characters, many of whom went on the their own starring roles. (Lorraine Bracco, Michael Imperioli and Frank Vincent all had prominent roles in the Sopranos Series.) — Joe Pesci does an amazing job of being the wise guy without a conscience. —...

Islander says "Original and thought provoking of the film noir genre." about Dexter

Almost passed on this series as the star had been in "Six Feet Under" playing a role as a gay male and I thought his role may be the same in this feature. — I was pleased to learn that although there is a little sex in this series it is not the dominant theme. I enjoy the explanations put forth by Dex as he narrates his past and how he developed in his own unique fashion. — He is truly a serial killer you would never guess and a likable guy. There is never a dull moment as the series is always putting in new twists and surprises. —...

Islander says "Alfred Hitchcock style thriller!" about Vacancy

Bought this just before Halloween this year and the timing was perfect. This is a classic thriller with all the heart stopping surprises. — I love those lost in the middle of nowhere and the only place to go is a wretched farmhouse or a "Bates Motel" complete with its own version of Norman... — The creepy motel clerk is immediately identified as someone you can't trust. As the film develops you will be truly on the edge of your seat if you enjoy this type of film. A must see for Hitchcock fans. —...

Islander says "A true Jason Statham movie packed with action" about Crank

Jason Statham is a unique actor I picked up on in "An Italian Job". Sort of a cross between Jet Li and Bruce Willis. — I liked the update on the old story of D.O.A. with Edmond O'brien in 1950 and again with Dennis Quaid in 1988. A classic setting for a suspnse-filled whodunnit. Will probably continue to be updated. — Lots of action and cool fights and some wry humor. Jason adds his own personna to this classic. — Looking forward to his next film. —...

Islander says "Great movie for the sleuth minded." about The Good Shepherd

Truly this 'action film' seems dull at times but it is building a fairly detailed base for future development. I loved the twists and turns and the fact that secret service agencies operate on intuition as well as facts. — I loved the way the characters developed and how an obscure situation may have an unfortunate outcome. — Brilliant and believable. —...

Islander says "Attractive and Efficient for a modern kitchen" about LG LFX25950SB Refrigerator

This unit replaces a GE side by side that served us well for 21 years. After that long with the same setup it was difficult at first to know how to arrange items for similar access because there was more door shelves and more compartments. — I like the idea of an additional water filter at the ice maker as well. — It is very user friendly and seems to fit the needs of our household. —...
