Hostalover says "Fekkai's glossing cream is creme brulee!" about Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream

There are many fine products out there that promise high gloss, damaged hair repair, moisturizing, fly-away taming, and more. I've tried a few (by no means all), and for this bleach-blonde, Fekkai is the winner. The very first time I tried it (or even heard of Fekkai) was from a tiny little sample given to me at the register of Bath and Bodyworks. The first time I tried it, I literally said, "What is this amazing stuff?"! I bought a tube, but months later when it was empty, I tried my beloved Ojon to compare. Ojon is fantastic, I will never not have Ojon in my house. But... since I strip my hair of every natural protective advantage it may have during multi-process coloring, Fekkai's is the best for me. If you have oily hair, or maintain a more natural look, I would bet that you would still love this product. A little goes a very long way, and it makes a difference to how my hair feels and looks. No doubt, the best for me!
...

Hostalover says "The best family-oriented amusement park anywhere." about Knoebels - Elysburg, PA

Knoebels amusement park (www.knoebels.com) gave me one of the most enjoyable and memorable days I ever had with my mother and boys. There was ride after ride that my 7 and 3 year old boys could enjoy together all day long. The park offers a per ride payment and an all-day-pass option, but does not charge an entrance fee. It has the most lovely atmosphere you could possibly imagine for an amusement park. The boys were torn whether to go on their favorite ride over and over, or to try the next one which was only a few steps away. We went the last day of July on a Thursday and had almost no waiting time for any rides. The employees were exemplary in their courtesy, there were beautiful gardens and trees everywhere, and the place was really clean. The food was fantastic and, all things considered, reasonable. You can always bring your own food and eat it at tables or even in the park! My other family members have made Knoebels an annual event, but this summer (2008) was my first time. As I...
...

Hostalover says "The tension continues to escalate in this racing saga." about Hot Wheels AcceleRacers Vol. 3: Breaking Point

This movie has been in our DVD player for several weeks now. It is completely different from any other kids' movie I've seen. It has an appeal to the "older" watcher as well (like parents or siblings who are around when the movie is on). I like that it has brave characters who confidently face their enemies. I also like that there is an emphasis on being the best (winning the race) and being a team player. Each character has some sort of dilemma to face, and many change significantly as a result. It holds the attention of my 2 and 6 year old boys, but I like to watch too. There is a lot of action and plot twists. This is a two thumbs up for kids who like cars, but not for the very young who have only been exposed to tender age-appropriate shows like Sesame Street and Little Einsteins.
...

Hostalover says "Not quite as convenient as I expected." about Swiffer WetJet®

I got saw this product for a great price, so I picked it up to give it a try. It only came with two cleaning heads, so I really had to use my judgement for when I was going to give it a try. I'm busy, have 2 kids, a demanding job, and a lot of cleaning up to do. I wanted to use it to keep my kitchen floor in better maintenance, but the solution it came with wasn't good for hard wood floors. So, in the places in my home where it would benefit me the most, it really isn't the best tool to use. I do have two tiled bathrooms, but I found that wet mopping was just as effective, cheaper, and almost as easy. If you have tiles or linoleum in big open spaces and want to do regular touch ups, this is probably a good product for you. For me, it doesn't quite fit the bill.

I'm most of all disappointed that the cleaner container must be thrown out and cannot be reused. I would use it more if I could use the cleaner of my choice. The cleaner scent is strong. It did pick up dirt, though. ...
...

Hostalover says "A "must have" for the collector." about Hosta Sum and Substance Plants

When I rented apartments, my landlords always allowed me to garden. I became an expert in high sun plants. When I purchased my home, I found a beautiful property with almost no place to put all of my sun-loving favorites. With some help from a few magazine pictures, I am now fully impassioned to create the landscape of my dreams using as many hosta varieties as possible. Sum and Substance, the 2004 American Hosta Growers Society hosta of the year, maintains it's beautiful chartreuse color (in my garden) for the entire season. It's large and grows fairly quickly. It is giving us ground cover, privacy, and is helping to curb erosion on the hill where it lives. I have had no problems with slugs or deer (so far). If you are a hosta or shade novice, you can try this one for a reasonable price, and find it almost anywhere from spring to fall. It can be planted at any time, but fall is best (when you get the best prices, too). If you can't find one in a store, try eBay. I've gotten...
...

Hostalover says "My best mattress ever. Highly recommended." about Simmons BeautyRest Pillowtop Mattress

This was the first high quality mattress I ever purchased. It has set the standard for me, so I cannot tolerate anything less supportive. My first one had an unusual irregularity, but under warranty I had it replaced with no problems. My second mattress has been perfect. The design really does cut way back on feeling motion of other sleepers. Our 2 year old still comes into the bed most nights, but much of the time I never knew he came in until the morning. I need a high quality bed to manage chronic pain, and this mattress has done a great job for me. My husband is equally satisfied. We bought the model without the pillow top and love it. My mother bought the pillow top and thinks now that it would be better without it. If you decide to give it a try, just remember to save your receipt and do not remove those tags that are to be removed by the consumer only, because they have information needed for warranty fulfillment.
...

Hostalover says "I love watching it as much, and almost as often, as my kids do." about Cars

This movie was fun to watch in theaters, but it will likely be a kids' classic to be seen at home for all time. We made it our bedtime show for several weeks, and when we moved on to something else, I missed 'my' characters after a while. Although the movie premiered in 2006, there are still plenty of toys, clothing, birthday party theme accessories, and other Cars items that you can buy for the child who loves this movie today. My husband and I both find it entertaining and will probably always keep a copy of it in our house....even when the little ones are big.
...

Hostalover says "It takes 06 a step further, but there is a learning curve." about iLife 08

I'm really liking the improvements in iLife 08. The look is great, and the programs are completely integrated, it seems like they're really not separate. I've made amazing documents for meaningful events (concerts, recitals, funerals, neighborhood yard sale) that are going to be long-time keepsakes with an incredible look. It is taking me more time to complete these documents for now because I'm figuring out how to do the new things on my own. There is a big difference. I still need to use iMovie 06 to import and edit my digital videos because my camera is several years old. I have full confidence that when I upgrade that I'll be able to do much more with my newer creations than I am now. In some ways the transition from iLife 06 to iLife 08 is like moving from OS 9 to OSX. It takes some time to adjust, but it's worth it.
My apologies....I just realized I reviewed the software and not this book. Now that I know about this book, I think I'll look into buying it because it could help......

Hostalover says "Not a classic, but my young sons love to watch it as if it were." about Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3D

This movie was made by the producer of the Spy Kids series, and it has some shining moments. Although my young boys enjoy it over and over, it doesn't hold my interest in the same way as other kids' movies do. If your kids like Spy Kids, and are movie watchers between the ages of 2 and 7, they'll probably like it enough to watch a few times. My sisters' children did not like it in the theatres very much, but I think that watching at home has lower expectations, and this movie does just fine. I have purchased it for the boys for Christmas this year.
...

Hostalover says "This laptop holds my entire life together." about Apple MacBook Pro

This laptop services all of my professional, household, and personal business. I work, shop, pay bills, communicate with everyone I need to, and more. I invested very little money into software because the computer comes with almost everything you need, and the rest is not expensive. After seeing this computer in action, my husband has now firmly declared that his next computer purchase will be a Mac. I think the greatest con for me is that there is so much that I can do on this computer, I don't think I'll ever have the time to learn about all of it because I'm so busy using the things that work for me already; however, to counter that, Apple offers once a week, one-hour long lessons for $99 a year, so that small investment will change the only down-side view I have. It's completely reliable, and whenever there is a problem, apple is always there to help. The service is amazing from start to finish. The sales reps on the phone, online, and in stores are so knowledgeable, and do...
...
