GeorgeParrott says "Energy star FRAUD" about Kenmore Elite 795.75199401

We have owned the Kenmore PRO or Elite French door with icemaker refrigerator since May of 2007. We are NOT happy with this product. It was labeled "Energy Star" and that was a big factor in our purchase, but later discovered by the Department of Energy to NOT be Energy Star compliant. As a matter of fact, even after a Kenmore circuit board modification to improve efficiency, this unit is using almost 60% more electricity that the product label at purchase reported ! Kenmore and LG (the actual maker) will do nothing about taking this thing back and LG is offering only about $7/year in compensation for excess energy use, while my actual use measurement assesses that the excessive energy consumption costs an additional $40/year over the labeled level of kilowatt draw ! The combination of totally unresponsive Kenmore and LG bureaucracy on this misrepresentation is such that we will NEVER purchase another major appliance from Kenmore or LG.
...

GeorgeParrott says "Destroys Clothes" about GE Front-Load Washer with King-size 3.6 Cu. Ft. Capacity, 14 Wash Cycles & LED Cycle Countdown and Status Lights

We moved into a brand new house 11 months ago and in this two story, 4 bedroom place we have an upstairs and a downstairs laundry. Our NEW GE pair was installed in the downstairs laundry for the exclusive use of my wife and myself. Over the past 11 months, the washer has "eaten" at least 4-5 items of my wife's apparel and a couple of mine.

This is tragic, as my wife is a "size 0," and has great trouble finding clothes. This past weekend, it totally shredded a pair of $70 dollar pants of hers ! It also ate one of my t-shirts. Something is clearly WRONG with the interior of the washer, and we have had one service call to try to get this fixed, but obviously that was not successful. We have a new LG washer-dryer upstairs and no problems with those. In our old house we had the Maytag Neptune front-loader pair and they NEVER had this problem !

YIKES !
...
