Fri, 14 Mar 2008 04:30:30 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Nickelback-All-The-Right-Reasons--18694-review-00f84 Garriq 1 http://www.viewpoints.com/Avenged-Sevenfold-City-of-Evil-review-3f2e0     Avenged Sevenfold is the next big thing in the "heavy metal" scene.  Kids are seen wearing their clothes and dressing like them all over America.  Why even bother with these clowns?  I'll start with the most important aspect of any band, the music. — —     Their singer, (Isn't his name Rev?  Reverend?)  has a samey voice for every song.  This comes with a massive ker-duh, but many singers do not have the same tone of voice for most songs.  The guitar work on the album comes with much praise, even from haters, but I find it flat out distasteful.  The drop D melodies and chugging rhythms on songs like "Beast and the Harlot" are very cliched.  The harmonies and arpeggios...so what?  Not to be a drag, but these guys may play guitar pretty well, but it has nowhere near the soul and originality of other metal bands they have been compared to.  (Ozzy, Maiden)  This combined with boring... The stock pickups aren't anything terribly great, but the bridge position humbucker has a great raw sound. Neck is great, plays like a dream. This guitar will do any style of music you choose.
