Garriq says "Can't stand these guys; sorry." about Nickelback - All The Right Reasons

Nickelback is apparently what many people define rock music by these days, for reasons that I do not know. First and foremost, their singer's voice is so deliciously pretentious that I cannot stop laughing at anytime I find myself in the unfortunate circumstances of hearing them on the radio. The guitar is standard pop fair; power chords backing a singer. Nothing more, nothing less. (Although some acoustic is popped in every now and then. Woohoo.) — — Overall, I cannot stand anything about Nickelback. Their songs all sound the same and have cheesy hooks. I'm sorry that I dissent from all of you fans. Nothing personal. —...

Garriq says "Terribly overrated; a waste of the time of all involved." about Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil

Avenged Sevenfold is the next big thing in the "heavy metal" scene. Kids are seen wearing their clothes and dressing like them all over America. Why even bother with these clowns? I'll start with the most important aspect of any band, the music. — — Their singer, (Isn't his name Rev? Reverend?) has a samey voice for every song. This comes with a massive ker-duh, but many singers do not have the same tone of voice for most songs. The guitar work on the album comes with much praise, even from haters, but I find it flat out distasteful. The drop D melodies and chugging rhythms on songs like "Beast and the Harlot" are very cliched. The harmonies and arpeggios...so what? Not to be a drag, but these guys may play guitar pretty well, but it has nowhere near the soul and originality of other metal bands they have been compared to. (Ozzy, Maiden) This combined with boring...

There Will Be Blood was simply an astounding film in every sense of the word. The storyline was intense and has you thinking the whole way through. The ending is incredible and well done. Every actor in the entire movie has you moved by their character. In all, the movie is one of the greatest ever, in my opinion, and infinitely...

Garriq says "Exactly like high school." about Superbad

Superbad basically sums up my life in high school. Some of the quotes I've found apply to everyday life at school. This movie is hilarious through its use of witty dialogue coupled with straightforward blunt cussing. Anybody with a sense of humor and strong stomach should love this...

Snopes has been my resource for anything that people tell me since about 2003. Any time I hear somebody say "One time somebody told me..." I look it up on Snopes, no exceptions. Their forums have a great community. Overall, the site is worth a visit whenever you have a few minutes to spare, but watch out; it's...

Garriq says "Terrible, slow program." about Apple iTunes

"Okay guys, what can you think of to make the worst program ever?" said Steve Jobs to his staff at Apple Headquarters. — — "Well, we could make a music program of some sort that probably hogs a lot of system memory!" scoffed one programmer. — — "And while we're at it," added another, "why not encode purchased music so it's unusable outside of the program? We could also make an exceedingly popular music device to go along with it that can only use this program." — — "I love it! But what do we call it?" said Steve. — — "iTunes," said the first programmer, "no one will escape." — — I have 40 gigs of music on my computer that mI manage to get onto my iPod. I do not know how. iTunes is the slowest, bulkiest, most confusing piece of software I've ever used in my life. To manage an iPod, the best interface would be a simple drag and drop, but no, Apple decided to make people dependant on their poor program. — ...

Garriq says "Great everyday car with a lot of class." about Ford Mustang - 2002

I have the 6 cylinder automatic model as well, but people who see a Mustang still realize what kind of car it is; a great everyday car that you can race as well. Obviously a "fake" Mustang isn't gonna be beating many Camaros or Trans Ams any time soon, but it still puts ricers and 4x4s in their place. Decent fuel economy, better than a big block. Back seats are a tad small, but come on, it's a sports car. Get over it. Overall I think that the Ford Mustang is one of the best cars on the road in terms of power, comfort, ride and looks versus cost and fuel economy. You can't really go...

This game is definitely a great pack in for the Wii (and possibly the greatest pack in ever.) Easy to get into, a great party game, and a good way to show off the Wii's power and entertainment potential. Comes with the Wii, and can keep you entertained for a long...

Garriq says "Incredible, balanced guitar" about Fender Stratocaster Special Mahogany HSS

It's probably my favorite guitar I've played so far, and I have the privelege of owning it. The stock pickups aren't anything terribly great, but the bridge position humbucker has a great raw sound. Neck is great, plays like a dream. This guitar will do any style of music you choose. Shreds great, but has a good neck profile for blues too. Can't reccomend it...
