Doeie says "Don't cross the Chef!" about Hell's Kitchen

My husband and I love Hell's Kitchen. We don't usually care for the "vote someone off the island" genre of tv, but Gordon Ramsay is great entertainment, and with Tivo, you can fast forward through some of the more annoying whiny cooks.

It took watching some of Ramsay's earlier, British television shows (Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare's) before we realized that he's NOT an ass, that the cursing is just the way he is, but once you realize that, the show gets good, and watchable. The cursing can be hilarious, but it's definitely not a show for young kids.

The premise is obvious, some of the contestants are annoying, but watching the interplay between the contestants and Ramsay in the kitchen makes the show totally worth watching. Hard though it is to believe, Ramsay WANTS all these idiots to succeed. But don't cross him! He doesn't tolerate stupidity or poor cooking, and if he asks you a question, you'd best know the answer.

We definitely enjoy this show, and will probably continue watching......

Doeie says "If I could, I'd switch cable providers in a heartbeat." about Time Warner Cable - Company

Ever since Time Warner bought out Comcast in the Dallas area, we've had nothing but terrible customer service experiences. The service guys are never there when they are supposed to be, they almost never have the equipment they need to have, and if they DO happen to show up, well...sometimes they're drunk. And the switch from Comcast to TWC pricing was a beating, too.

First things first. We own a Tivo Series 3, which is a dual tuner HD Tivo. When we got it, the Comcast folks came out, installed the two tuners, and it worked like a champ. When we had to replace the Tivo 3 for Tivo issues, we called TWC. First, for a company that works in the cable industry, it appears that they've never heard of Tivo. Not sure how, Tivo has been around for MANY years, but everyone we talked to was like, "What? Your TV takes cable cards?" Then, after talking to 2 or 3 people and making SOMEONE understand what the issue was, we tell them we need TWO cable cards. Not one. TWO. Schedule......

Doeie says "Best baby wipes at a decent price." about Kirkland Baby Wipes

I bought the Kirkland wipes on a whim when the daycare told me they were out. I'm so glad I did! We were using Pampers Sensitive wipes in our wipe warmer, and they were impossible to get out one at a time. These wipes, although a little thinner than the Pampers, work GREAT in the wipe warmer - they easily come out one at a time.

Although they are a little thinner, I find them to be just as soft, and my 3 month old tolerates them just fine. They're also good for mommy and daddy if a stomach bug sweeps the house! These wipes are great, and a fantastic price. I highly recommend them.
...

Doeie says "Best stuff for my baby, hands down." about Nestle Good Start Supreme Natural Cultures

My son is mostly breast fed, but at 4 weeks, we started supplementing with a bottle of formula, both so I could get some rest and because experience with my nieces and nephews taught us that starting bottles (and formula) by 4-6 weeks was important for future acceptance of them.

We started with Enfamil, because we had a ton of samples, and because our son was a bit colicky and prone to spit it up, and it was the first formula we'd used, didn't notice the spit up as much. What we did notice was that he became somewhat constipated, and we had to start giving him juice to loosen him up.

We recently switched to Good Start Supreme Natural Cultures. My son is now 3 months old, and since I've gone back to work, the end of breast milk will be coming sometime in the next few months. This formula has been great. He's no longer contipated, he spits up MUCH less than he did on Enfamil, and it seems that it doesn't upset his stomach like Enfamil. The formula looks more like milk, and is less foamy......

Doeie says "Fantastic services for people who prefer web-banking." about USAA Banking and Insurance

USAA is the best banking experience I've ever had. Nearly 100% of my banking is done online, and I'm very happy with that. USAA has excellent online tools, and they're constantly upgrading and trying to improve their services. On the rare instances when I do need to interact with customer service, both their online and telephone services are fantastic - courteous, informative, and, in the case of the online correspondence, exceedingly prompt. I even get answers to questions over the weekend.

My husband is ex-navy, which is how we qualified for USAA services. We have checking, savings, mutual funds, auto and home insurance, and two auto loans from USAA. They have the best rates by far on all of their insurance and loan products, as well as great rates on their savings accounts.

They also have additional incentives for using their products - you can earn money back on your closing costs if you use their real estate people to buy and/or sell your home and you can receive discounts...
...

Doeie says "The perfect hot beverage for everyone whenever you want!" about Braun Tassimo Coffee Maker

My husband and I purchased the Tassimo when I had to give up caffeine because I was breastfeeding. The Tassimo is the perfect solution, as he can have a cup or two of good Starbucks or Gevalia coffee in the morning when he gets up, and I can have a cup or two of decaf later in the morning when I get up, and we don't waste half a pot of coffee.

The Tassimo brews one cup of beverage at a time. An internal scanner reads the barcode off the beverage disc, and this tells the machine how much water, how hot, and how long to brew. A wide variety of discs are available, including several brands and varieties of caffeinated coffee, with a more limited selection of decaf coffees, regular and decaf cappuccino, latte, tea, and hot chocolate. Once the cup of beverage is done, clean up involves simply removing the disc and disposing.

The Tassimo also has a height-adjustable insert to accommodate any height cup, and the insert is removable for especially tall mugs. A removable water carafe attaches...
...
