ChadFitzgerald says "If the Earth stood still, would we change?" about The Day The Earth Stood Still

In 2008, Keanu Reeves played the lead role in a remake of the Sci-Fi movie The Day The Earth Stood Still. I watched the movie again tonight looking for something I might have missed the first time.

We as the human race, do seem to think that this great planet belongs to us. A thought pushed very hard by the christian religion thoughout the years. You know what I mean even if it bothers you that I said so.

Why is it that we wait until the very last minute's to change our ways. Why have so many taken for granted that our planet can handle whatever abuse we throw at it. What if Jesus isnt comeing back to fix it all up for us? Indeed we come across as hostile toward each other. As if that isnt bad enough, we trash the very ground we walk on.

If you are of the nature to belive in God, look back at the very begining. Our task was to tend and keep the garden. The garden my friends is this planet that we live on, that we came from. The Dust of the Ground rememer.

ChadFitzgerald says "Works like a charm and no blinking clock to set!" about Sony - DVP-NS700H Up-Scaling DVD Player

From the days of Missing my typewriter, to the days of plug and play. I've come a long way. When we got our HD TV, I knew it would not be long before a high def, DVD player would be in order. For us the Sony DVP-NS700H, was a very good choice.

The Sony DVD players, reads all Cd's and DVD except Blueray (although I havent tried that yet). I was able to connect this DVD player up quickly and right out of the box began to enjoy a High def picture, and super sound. To my delight it reads jpeg files so I can review my picture CD's as well. I discovered that the Sony DVD also add's music to these files if you dont have sound already incorperated. And while this added sound is only a small clip you do have four to choose from and it does make photo viewing a bit more interesting.

The Sony CD/DVD player looks nice on top of haveing such a wide compatibility. We picked ours up at the local Target, on sale for 79 dollars. While I still have some learning to do on upscaling and the difference between...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "StaphAseptic really worked for me." about StaphAseptic

With all the things folks have to watch out for these days its unfortunate that community Staph or MRSA is one of those things. Its not easy for me to admit but this type of staph infections I have been fighting for years now. Finally an over the counter product offers help its called StaphAseptic.

We paid somewhere around 15 dollars for this product and not haveing used it before I was not all that sure that StaphAseptic would work at all. I felt that for me personally it was important to give it a try. Given that staph was a problem of mine I knew I would be able to say if this product lived up to the claims it was makeing.

StaphAseptic presents itself as a preventive, with the added benifit of fast pain relief. Like some many out there to be used on minor cuts, scrapes, burns and related skin irritations. Perhaps Tec Laboratories doesnt want to make claims they cannot live up to, so staph infections are not mentioned in the "for use on" section.

So to the good stuff, I applied StaphAseptic...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "Vacation gone awry, Are you in good hands? Turns out yes we are." about Allstate

I have never been one to pay compliments to insurance companies, and in all honesty will remain reserved with good words towards them in the future. Time and circumstance put me in the position to finally need some help from Allstate. On this occasion Allstate gave my partner and I all we have been paying for and a bit more.

Its a very strange feeling to wake in the morning while traveling and look out your hotel window to see an empty spot where just a few hours ago you had parked your truck. Indeed, for me, it took a full 30 seconds for it to register and only after running outside did it fully sink in that our wonderful Toyota was gone.

After calling the Oklahoma Police and talking to an Officer Hill, we contacted Allstate. Our policy allows rentals in case of emergency, and this fit the bill. Within 30 minutes we had our temporary car. A very nice one I might add. After makeing a few more calls, it seemed clear there was no reason to hang around. Although the Hotel did offer us a...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "An insightful look at Faith, from an angry man." about Lewis Black - Me of Little Faith

My good friend brought Lewis Black's book ME OF LITTLE FAITH by for me to read after he had finished it. Book shareing is such a nice thing to do. While I am aware of Lewis Black in standup, I was not aware that he was such a good writer.

In the book ME OF LITTLE FAITH, Lewis Black gives us his take on the various faiths and religion that prevails in the world today. His newest paperback includes just a few more essays than did the first publishing. As with his standup he holds nothing back in written form. This book gave me a whole new way of understanding Mr. Black and why he is as he is today. What a perspective as a Jewish man he has on almost every belief system out there today.

I suspect many people will not take kindly to Lewis Black's hard and open look at both what they believe and the history he reveals about said belief. As someone who has struggled with Christianity in my personal life, I still have faith in something bigger than ourselves. Lewis Black concurs that he too...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "This one will light up your life." about GARRITY GT-LED Flashlight

I am now the proud owner of two Garrity GT-LED flashlights. I must admit that I am developeing a thing for LED, so when I came across this GT-LED I had to add it to my collection. We all have those flashlights that you have to shake to get it to stay on or the lens surface is so dirty you wonder how you can see anything anyway. Now I am sure I can rid myself of those bad boys, 'cause I found something better.

I must say that I was not aware of an LED flashlight but now that I have used one I am one very happy camper. The GT-LED flashlight produced by Garrity Industries, Inc is a well made, easy to hold, light weight flashlight. It has maginifiers on the lens so the light from this thing is just incrediable. It uses four double A batteries, which came with the flashlight. Because it uses LED lights the battery life is extended (their claim is 10 times), but I have yet to use it long enough to see if that is true. But with what we know with lighting these days I have no doubts that will...
...

I have been so happy with the Samsung 32 inch LCD, HDTV since we purchased it off Amazon.com last November. It has all the features one might need these days, and for me wasnt hard to figure out.

I really enjoy the way this Television looks, clean lines and just plain classy. It has adjustable pictures settings, PC connections, HDMI, all the nice perks that make you feel special. Samsung has taken the time to make a very nice product.

I cant help but notice the cons as I write this review. For those who havent discovered the soloutions to these problems perhaps I can help out. With the Samsung remote press menu-in the external settings forward to Melody, from there choose High,Medium,Low or Off. I happen to like the little "do do do do" sounds but have them on low. As far as the Speaker sound, these also can be improved, Under the same menu you will see Sounds. This area gives a custom speaker set up or options for whatever you may be watching such as movies, games, etc. You can set...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "Yuban now offers Organic coffee, strong flavor I love." about Yuban Columbian Supremo

I have seen Yuban on the shelves at Winn Dixie in the past. Now that WD is carrying more organic products I have made a point to shop there more often. So finding myself in the coffee aisle I saw Yuban Organic in an 11 ounce can for around $4.29.

The price is great but I hadnt tried the coffee at all so this time I gave it a shot. I was pleased with the flavor of the coffee. And I am very happy its organic. of course that price is a good one these days.

Yuban does have a full flavor to me which translates strong. But that could be the amounts I use. Its offered as a Medium-bodied taste. Smooth and Perfectly balanced, to quote their tag line. Which ever side of the strength factor you find yourself on, I think that you will enjoy Yuban. To take it one step futher they have used recycled materials in the container it comes in. These things are important to me and I am happy that the coffee does taste well.

Honestly who isnt into good oral hygiene, We all know enough to care for our teeth, and with so many different toothpastes out there your bound to find one that keeps you smileing. And now those same tooth pastes promise to keep your smile white along with all the other things they do.

As most of us know thats a hard promise to keep. Coffee, Tea, and all sorts of other habits make keeping the smile bright. Then there was Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster. Just add some on top of your tooth paste and brush your way into a super white smile. The job Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster has done with my teeth surprize me alot, even though I had read a well writen review that said this product would do just that. To think of the money I have spent on those whitening strips from Crest. (sorry Crest its true). Arm & Hammer is so much better and so much easier. Well worth the 4.89 plus tax at the local Publix store I purchased it from.

Over the years I have always needed some kind of night light, be it for visitors not used to my furniture placement. Or myself trying to make it to the bathroom, or kitchen without my glasses on.

On a recent trip to the local Walgreens,( they are everywhere), I came across some LED Nightlight Bulbs that replaces all standard Night Light Bulbs. At 3.99 for two, I was not sure if I wanted to try these LED's manufactured by FEIT Electric Company, but after reading the package came to the concluesion that they may be worth it.

50,000 hours means a super long life, and they are given a Lifetime Guarantee. At 12 hours a day the LED Night Light Bulbs use only 25 cents a year of energy. Now I dont think I will use the lifetime guarantee as I have trouble keeping up with receipts sometimes, but I thought that at least means they stand behind their bulbs. These bulbs happen to be clear. But I bet there may be some colored ones out there somewhere.

Its been around five years since we purchased our Frigidaire Heavy Duty, front loading washer and dryer. This washing machine is an energy star product. It has five cycles, its an extra large capacity and is also HE. So with everything else we also save water.

From the moment I first used the Frigidaire front loading washing machine, I was in love. A quiet operating washer able to hold 11 pair of jeans. Queen sized comforters, and I can only quess at shirts and other washables. This Washer and dryer has never let me down.

We purchased our Frigidaire washer and dryer new. While it has been years I want to say we got it at Lowes for just over 1200 dollars for the set. Of course it was on sale. I have never had any problems with this machine, and I can say the same for the dryer. We wear a full range of clothes, from the work in the yard to the I need to look like a CEO today.

I Knew long ago Will Smith would become a fine actor. He has something about him that makes you want to watch even when the movie might not be something you would normally sit down for. At least thats how it is for me.

My good friend warned me that Seven Pounds might seem a bit slow in the beginning, but haveing read a write up about the movie, I knew it wasnt all about action this time. Seven Pounds, I think, did a fine job from the very start. They carefully fill you in on the story without dwelling to long in the past. Instead we are given a close and personal look at his characters current state of mind. Each day liveing in the moment, as it would seem that the moment was all that he had.

Indeed each of our lives can be changed in an instant. How many of us are guilty of not paying attention when we should be? Why would today be any different from yesterday?

Presented with such a tragedy what is the right thing to do? Ben(Will) had made up his mind from that very day.

I have had many chances to travel, and each experience has been awesome. I have one problem with traveling though, it seems that after the first 250 miles or so my left leg has deep pain inside my thigh. So on any long trip we do our best to stop and walk around to keep those muscles relaxed. But it always comes back.

Its hard to get past the Philadelphia cream cheese section any day you go shopping, and now Philly has made it even more tempting than before.

I gave the new Kraft Philadelphia Spinach and Artichoke spread a try. As I expected I was not dissappointed. Once getting it home I tasted it right out of the bowl and I knew that I had not made a bad choice. It was good enough I could have continued to eat all of it with said spoon but I had a better choice.

Out came the White cheddar Rice thins spreading just enough Philadelphia Spinach and Artichoke on each cracker, I on this occassion ate slowly, so I could enjoy the taste and the texture of Philly's wonderful new spread. A rich and creamy flavor and texture that, seems to me,would go with just about anything. Haveing decided that Spinach and Artichoke went well with the crackers I also gave it a try with the ever popular tostidos. Just as wonderful, thank you very much.

Ah, Spring travel what a wonderfull thing to get to do. As you can expect while traveling your going to need a plastic fork, knife, or spoon for something.

We picked up Harvest Farms Compostable Cutlery, a service for eight for a small price at one of the local grocery stores in the area we where visiting. I thought this might be a good choice, since those recycle bins are not always easy to find. Made with a bio-based resin called Cereplast. (Note to self-find out what Cereplast is). These Spoons,Forks and Knives are meant to ease your mind about envirnmental impact. I personally think that is a great selling point.

I would like to say that Harvest Farms Compostable Cutlery is a good choice for those family outings and road side picknics. It makes me sad to tell you that maybe we have to keep looking, or we have to keep risking the lose of our "real forks" from home, because this product just doesnt cut it for me.

I always try to recycle whenever I travel but this isnt always easy to do. On this trip we came across a product made by Solo called bare.

These extra strong "paper plates" are made from bamboo, and free of chemicals like bleach, inks and dyes. bare dinnerware plates by solo was a great choice for us, as we felt, since we had to use something disposable, it was better than plastic, and way better than styrafoam.

bare (small letter as used on package) plates come in a package of fifteen(15) for a really good price. Sorry I cant remember the price but I never like to pay "to much" for anything so I know it was a good one.

I liked useing these plates, we used them in our hotel room with no problems at all, they held up to, dare I say it, large portions of food. I also must admit that they held up to more than one serving of said large portions.

I have been known...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "A fresh look at my Toyota Tacoma Prerunner, Its still the one." about Toyota Tacoma - 2002

For some of us, our vehicle is more than just a way to get around, the longer you have it the more like family it becomes.

Our Toyota pickup has a full cab and soft gray seats, a bit worn after all these years but they still clean up real nice. During the night of sept 11th this truck that I have traveled the United states in was stolen while we slept. After doing what you do when such things happen we left for home without our Toyota pickup, and none of our other personal belongings. I share this because that drive was the one that reminded me why I love my truck.

I found myself reaching for things in the rental, where my hands would normally find them in the Toyota. We are creatures of habit after all and this well made automobile allowed me to develope a wonderful reationship with it. Regular maintenance had kept the pickup in smooth condition, and only once not starting in the years since 2002. That was just a plain old worn out battery. The mileage getting better after the break...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "Mr Coffee broke my heart." about Mr. Coffee - Coffee Makers

I have made the choice to review under the general heading of Mr. Coffee coffee makers, as I have a few comments to make about the basic unit, which held 10 cups, and the programable units which drip out 12 cups.

We had used different types over the years, and my better half, tired of waiting for me to grind or press coffee chose to use a Hamilton Drip, this baby driped happily for years and then of course gave up the ghost.

We first replaced it with a Mr. Coffee ten cup automatic, it was on sale cheap! This bad boy quit on us one week later. I couldnt find my receipt and decided that sometimes these things happen, maybe it was just made on a friday or something. We will try again, but as coffee should taste great when you make it,maybe a little more of an investment was in order, but you know not to much of an investment.

I laid out how much we would spend this time, off to the store. Lovely choices but once again my range left me in the Mr. Coffee section again. Okay maybe one of those black,...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "Seventh Generation, One more way to show you care." about Seventh Generation Free & Clear Natural Dish Liquid

After checking I found that bottle of liquid Seventh Generation under the sink, just where it should be. I have added a photo of both. Still this review remains about the powder detergent for your dishwasher. Just so you know the liquid is just as great....

We hear everyday how we should be takeing care of the enviroment, and I believe that so many of us are. I also understand that its the small ways that make the most difference, because more of us can make those small changes in one way or the other.

Seventh Generation has been around for a long time. I use the powered automatice dishwashing detergent called Seventh Generation Free&Clear, you guessed it free of perfumes and dyes. I have oftened wondered why we need perfume and dye in a dishwasher anyway. Although that lovely lemon smell drifting out with the steam of the dishwasher is quite nice. Thankfully 7th G offers us smells and no smells. No matter which you use, Seventh Generation Free&Clear does indeed get those dishes "sparkling...
...
