Byrdbill says "Great place to live. People are friendly" about Benton Park West - Saint Louis, MO

Historic, diverse, and a good place to live. This is what can be said about Benton Park West, Saint Louis MO.

Originating in the late 1800's and settled by predominately German immigrants, Benton Park West was a "work class" neighborhood. While 20 years the neighborhood started into decline, in the last five years great strides have been made in rebuilding and revitalizing this great area.

With long-term residents and newer residents moving in each day, the fight to alleviate bad elements is nearing the end. Four years ago the fight was hard as much drug sales and such were occurring. With the dedication of the Neighborhood Association, Neighborhood Stablization Officer, multiple Alderman, District Police and numerous developers this historic neighborhood has had the coats of paint peeled back to see once again the original patina of 100 years go.

In addition to the great living in Benton Park West, residents will find multiple shopping districts on each boundary of the neighborhood. ...
...

Byrdbill says "Relaxing, yet energizing!" about Park West Grille - St Louis, MO

For a great time that includes friends and food, choose Park West Grille.

A light and cheery, bistro bar is what you'll find when entering PWG. The restaurant sits on the eastern border of Benton Park West...just one block down from historic Benton Park.

The Lobster wontons are to die for. The pot stickers are great, but ask for them to be lightly fried. My favorite entree isn't on the menu until December '07. As for the Blackened Chicken with Cajun tomato cream sauce, OMG! You'd slap your mother over it. You can order with your choice of veggies, etc. I always order with tomatoes only.

The drinks at this slice of New York are phenomenal. While the drinks are tasty and poured just right, the price won't knock you off the bar stool.

Enjoying dinner or a drink in a quiet and cool place maybe what you want some of the time, but don't miss Thurs-Sat nights when there is live music that "KICKS up the Heat" and makes the drinks that much more tasty!

Get your friends and even your...
...

Byrdbill says "Great place to relax" about Benton Park - STL City Park

For an experience of history, checkout Benton Park located on Jefferson at Arsenal in Saint Louis Missouri.

Originally part of the "St. Louis Commons", then a cemetery, in the late 1800's Saint Louis designated this area as "Benton Park" named after Thomas Hart Benton. At the turn of the century this park was alive with residents. All but one original pond is still in use. Due to the fact that this Park sits on top of an elaborate cave system, utilized by the original beer manufacturers before refrigeration, the ponds were subject to leaking and draining virtually overnight. One pond could not have the leaking stopped. This area is a natural concave space that makes a perfect amphitheatre.

There have been several "renovations" with the last occurring in the early 1980's, the Park area still is a pleasant area to stroll and enjoy the views. There is a master plan in place with the collaboration of Benton Park Neighborhood, Benton Park West Neighborhood, the Alderman and City...
...

Byrdbill says "Compact, but drys like a full size" about Maytag Dryer - Electric Dryer - MDE2400A

We needed a small unit for the closet where we were putting the laundry. This laundry is in a 100+ year old house on the 2nd floor closet.

We were limited as to what units would work as the closet wasn't that deep. We chose this dryer because of size...we didn't know that we'd have one of the best dryers we've ever had.

With multiple capacity of function and controls, this dryer is the BEST. The only problem we had with it was that initially the heat unit had to be replaced. The heat unit was replaced almost a year ago and since then NO problems. This dryer gets used a LOT and drys like a champ.

Even with the minor inconvience of having to have the repair man there for the heat unit...I would buy this dryer again.

One thing...we also bought the companion washer. Any frontload washer shakes like the dickens when spinning. Initially we had the dryer on top of the washer, but the dryer seemed to be all over the place. We used strong wire shelving to house the dryer. Now the...
...

Byrdbill says "Great item...would buy it again." about Panasonic - 42" Plasma 42PX60U Television

We've had this TV right at one year. Bought it on "Black Friday" (day after thanksgiving) at about 5:30a.

It was a rush to buy the TV on the busiest shopping day of the year...the rush didn't stop there. Seemingly every day we use the TV, we still get the RUSH.

I am a very practical and always look for a bargain and "best bang for the buck". I did a lot of research before striking out to make the purchase.

As of last year, this Panasonic 42" was the highest rated and best on the market. We looked at a LOT of plasma TV's and did visual comparisons. Each time at different stores the results were the same. Many times different stores "tune" or adjust TV's to function/look better than others. No matter what store we were in, this Panasonic always out preformed anything else in the store in the area of color, clarity and vivid picture.

I would buy this TV again in a heartbeat.
...
