AWong says "A Boring cleanser but it's the best !" about Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

I have been following a skin care routine ever since I was 18. I am now 50 and have tried countless cleansers - Clinque, Dior, Estee Lauder, Lancome..... The last 10 years with the mail and online order of Avon and Yves Rocher, I tried their cleansers too and found that they are just as well as the famous brand names. I am a person enjoying trying new things, and I change my cleanser with the change of season. I like travelling a lot too and I bring the cleanser and skin care products according to that local weather.

Funny that I have heard about Cetaphil for a long time but never bother to try it until a year ago. My sister gets ultra sensitive skin and has been using it for life as recommended by her dermatologist. Last year while I was staying at her vacation house and ran out of my cleanser, I tried a few pump of her Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser and fell in love with it. At its price it has supreme quality. My mature skin felt extremely well after the first use. ...
...

AWong says "Won't stain clothes." about Avon MagiX Face Perfector SPF 20

If you are young and prefer natural look and makeup, the AVON MagiX Face Perfector SPF20 is for you. It is a white gel cream and comes on face with shine-free finish. It makes skin look clearer and more even-toned but doesn't hide the flaws on skin well as it promises. Some people treat it as a primer and apply foundation on top. I try it out of curiosity and love and hate it. I don't like heavy makeup and this AVON product appeals very much to me in this aspect. My skin tends to be dry and liquid foundation has the drawback of staining the clothes esp when I wear high-neck. Wearing the MagiX Face Perfector doesn't have this problem and its SPF20 also protects the face from harmful ultra-violet ray. However, after a few hours with this product on, my face will feel dry and dehydrated. It is not as good a product for mature skin. Hope that AVON will have similar product for my skin type in future.
...

AWong says "OK if you don't have severe acne." about Clean & Clear Invisible Blemish Treatment

I am 50 now and acne is the last thing that I expect until I was around 45 when I first had rosacea. The acne also came back soon after. The condition is not severe to warrant seeing the doctor but with an acne popping up from time to time is not pleasant at all. I read that BHA (salicylic acid) may help and I bought this Clean & Clear Invisible Blemish Treatment. It is a 22 ml tube containing 2 % salicylic acid and costs only a few bucks. With only one or two acne at a time, the tube will last a long time. It does help but the effect is not as good as I expect. It is invisible so it's not obvious after I put it on, but it tends to peel after it dries. The healing also takes a few days, not fast at all. When I was young, I used the Clinque Touchstick and it's more effective. Don't know whether Clinque still carries that product. Next time I prefer to pay more for better result.
...

AWong says "Dove if only one brand is allowed." about Dove Soap Bar

The bathroom is my santuary after each day hard work. I have a half-cooler collection of different bath and shower gels, soaps and bathing salt of different fragrance. Lighting some candles and soaking a hot bath (yes I know it's not good for the skin) before bed is the most enjoyable time. But if I am only allowed to use only one type of bathing product, I will say Dove soap bar. I have been using it for nearly 20 years now. Dove is 1/4 moisturizer and it hydrates and nourishes the skin besides cleaning. I first know about it from a dermatologist's recommendation for my husband's skin allergy. I am now 50 and my skin has become drier with time. So after my indulgent experiences with various fragrant bathing products, I always end up going back to Dove as long-term use of those products may cause my skin itchy. I can't do without Dove esp during the dry season. It's great that beside the simple white bar soap, it also has the pink variation now. Yes, using Dove...
...

AWong says "I don't need additional sunscreen with the Avon Alternative." about Avon Alternative Intensive Age Treatment SPF25

I like outdoor activities very much and didn't have much concept of protection from sun until the last 10 years. Now I'm 50 and the accumulated damage from ultra-violet rays shows itself. I have lots of age spots on my face. The Vit-A topical serum prescribed by my dermatologist was very strong and though it erases some prominent age spots it requires quite a long-term use to be effective and the age spots always come back after a while. My daily skin care products are all targeted against the age spots. I've tried many products incl the expensive lines of Dior, Lancome and Estee Lauder, but with disappointment. AVON eventually have this ANEW Alternative Intensive Age Treatment with SPF25. I like it after my first use and never stop using it. It is not expensive but the effect is quite good. Though it won't give the result of the prescribed serum, it does help to bring more clarity and radiance to my face. I also like the smell of it - like some sophisticated herbs. ...
...
