I am 29 years old and have been a migraine and chronic daily headache sufferer for almost 25 years. When I was in grade school I was tol my daily headaches and weekly migraines were just ploys to get out of school and stay in bed and be lazy. As ai grew older the pain remained, and my search for relief continued. I was told the pain was psychological, sinus related, ear related, muscle related, and just general chronic pain. I knew that I suffered from headaches. All the women in my family suffer from headaches. However, I did not think that they caused such severe life disruption as mine did. It was not until three years ago that I found a doctor (a headache specialist) that understood chronic daily headache and migraine. I was finally properly diagnosed! yet, it took up until this year to find the correct combination of prescription and non-prescription preventive and abortive medications to help treat my pain. Now I am on two different preventive medications that I take daily and will prpbably take for the rest of my life. I have tried Relpax as an abortive medication (and others in its class such as Imitrex and Maxalt). I have found Relpax to be somewhat helpful when I have moderate migraines. It takes the edge off of the pain and I always have to take a second dose. The pain never goes completely away. Plus, the side effect of chest tightening is bothersome.
