When I first started reading this book, I could not put it down. I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed reading this book. I was a little disappointed by the final results though. I read this book a couple of months ago, so I don't remember the ending details too much. From what I remember I believe they never caught the murderer although the dad always knew it was the next door neighbor and they never found the girl's body. I was so mad at that. After I read the lovely bones, I went to my mom and as usual told her "mom I finished my book" and then I said "...
read full review »David Baldacci - Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing is a formulaic thriller that was decidedly easy to read that and was enjoyable but it did not rise to the level of memorable or distinguished for what it was. That said, I am not a regular reader of this genre of fiction, but I was generally underwhelmed with the quality of writing in David Baldacci.
I found the plot to be both predictable and ridiculous which frankly is not such a good combination. On one hand I knew what was coming next, on the other hand the string of coincidences stretched the thin line of believability so much that the end of the book just felt like...

The "All You" magazine is worth reading! I make this statement because I am a two year subscriber to the magazine and love it. In fact I just renewed my subscription for another two years this past month. It is one magazine I find it has up to date health, beauty, fashion, crafts, recipes ideas and many great articles that I enjoy reading.
As a volunteer at living assistance facilities working with the elderly I found several craft ideas that were easy enough for the elderly with physical challenges can make. The crafts are fun, practical and the magazine gives clear instruction that are...

Jodi Picoult's Vanishing Acts is a novel that was first published in 2005, but I am just getting around to reading it thanks to my sister's loan of several Picoult paperbacks. I recently had 3 unplanned days off from work due to a major snowstorm, so I tore through Vanishing Acts in some of that free time.
This novel centers around Delia Hopkins, a woman who works with her bloodhound to perform search and rescue missions for local police, county, and even federal agencies. She is engaged to be married and has a gorgeous daughter... life is good for Delia until her father, the only parent...

Taking an active roll in the family business (matchmaking through Valentine, Inc.) was something that Lucy Valentine never thought she could or would ever do. Her ability to see a persons aura (an ability that her ancestors claimed came from Cupid) was oddly changed and now she was a psychic that could only find inanimate objects, not a persons natural match (like her father was able to do). Her father was in need of help after suffering a heart attack so Lucy decided to take a chance since it would only be for a couple of weeks. How could she have known that her own psychic ability would lead...
