I love this toaster, as it has been a godsend to me and my family especially when we have large gatherings at the home and large quantities are being constantly made. It holds up very well for the purpose it is used for and hardly takes up any more room than a regular 2 slice toaster. Toasting Evenness This unit toast very evenly all time. I have never had an issue using this product. Safety It has the cool touch feature which is a plus, especially if you have younger children that like to run around and play in the kitchen while mom is cooking. Ease of Cleaning This toaster is a real pain to clean it. There is no bottom drawer for anything to fall to the bottom, so you have to bang on it in order for stuff to fall to the bottom. Durability This unit has held up quite well, especially since I practically use it every day since I have owned it. Design I am not crazy about the design of this unit, however it serves its purpose quite well.

We bought this particular model toaster when our other of 20+ years finally died. I bought it as a "spur of the moment" purchase while at Big Lots and, although it does toast our bread, it's not the best we could have bought. Toasting Evenness I cannot complain about it's ability to toast the bread evenly. It does that well and with consistency. Safety To be honest with you, I don't feel safe with this toaster. Every time it pops up the toast, there is a bright spark to end it. My other did not do this so I don't feel comfortable with it. Ease of Cleaning The crumb port is easy to clean but the outside has yellowed and I don't like that. It always looks dirty and unkept even though it is clean. A better plastic should have been used. Durability So far, it's still going so I cannot say it isn't durable. I only wish it would die so I could get a better quality toaster. Design I like the shape and size of it but not the material used. I also wish it could toast bagels without the need to PULL them out. They touch the coils and that seems dangerous to me. Maybe next time, I should not buy on the spot for a new toaster.

This toaster deos a good job toasting, but it is very slow. I like the results I get from this toaster, but it is much slower than the last toaster I had. Also, even at the highest setting, I have to put down waffles more than one time. Waffles for us, take 1 1/2 times, so I either have to change the darkness setting, or make sure I wait around to pop the waffles on the second push down. My model has nice big red buttons in front to push in order to pop the toast, waffles, etc. early. Another trick is to put waffles down on one side of toaster at the highest darkness setting, and then move them to the other slots with a lower darkness setting for the second toasting. One positive is that you do not have to wait for toaster to cool down before using it again. My old toaster would get hot and I would have to wait if I wanted to make a lot of toast, waffles, etc. This toaster needs no waiting between uses which is very nice since I do have to put waffles down twice. Toasting Evenness Bread toasts very evenly. Safety Cool to the touch, easy button to push to pop toast early, nice lifting mechanism. Ease of Cleaning Wipes clean easily. Bottom opens to remove crumbs. Durability So far, no problems. Have had it more than a year. Design Like the early pop button and lifting device.

I bought this toaster in hopes of being able to use all 4 slice spots. After using it for less than 6 months the left side will not toast any longer. Toasting Evenness Toasts evenly. Safety Cool wall design eliminates burns. Ease of Cleaning Cleaning is pretty easy but the bottom doors fall all the way off when you are trying to clean it and are not easy to put back on correctly. Durability The left side stopped working after less than 6 months. Design Overall okay design but not easy to pop item out early if not done toasting.

I received the Procter Silex four slice toaster as a gift, and am happy that I did not purchase this myself. Although this is a good performing toaster, it takes forever to toast. So, if you have a busy lifestyle, busy morning this may not be a toaster for you. Although it does take a bit longer than most of the other toasters that I've owned, it does do a good job toasting. Despite its time constraint, there are a few benefits to this product. First, it does stay fairly cool on the outside so no burns. Second, it does have dual toasting settings so that there can be a variance to the amount of browness each slice gets. Third, it does have an easy to access door on the bottom for cleaning. There are only two cons that I have found: time and space. Be prepared to have plenty of counter space for this toaster it is not compact by any measure and does require both an extensive amount of space both in terms of length and width. I've owned this toaster for about six months and it still heats/toasts as effectively as the first use. Overall, I would recommend this toaster on durability and effectiveness but not for time.   Toasting Evenness This toaster works great with even toasting. We don't eat a lot of toast, but out toaster still gets used fairly often and has lasted us many, many years. I love that there are four spaces for bread. I don't like that the spaces aren't big enough for bigger items that I may want toasted, but it works for my bread and that is the main item that I toast. There are 6 different ranges that I can choose from as to how dark I want my bread. The left side still works great, but sometimes the right side doesn't always toast the bread evenly or correctly which can be annoying. However, once I found out how I liked my bread toasted I was able to adjust each side of the toaster to match my desired toast. I like that I can toast four items at once which is super convenient. Overall, it is not a fancy toaster, but it does its job well.

I received this Proctor Silex Cool Touch toaster as a wedding gift 10 years ago.  It has held up well and still performs as well as it ever did with very little maintenance, but I am not sure what that says for itself.  The price is reasonable and for that price you may not expect the fancy gadgets, but consistent cooking is a must.  From the beginning, one side (2 slots) of the 4 slice toaster cooks more than the other.  We have the set at the same setting but have had to adjust so we don't end up with burnt toast.  However, there are times still when it senses that the toast (or whateveR) is done and it will pop up barely even warm.  We try to put it back down and it will continue to pop right back up consistently until we give up.  This does not always happen but occasionally.  Features I do like, I like the fact that it cooks 4 slices at once.  I like that the slices can be a bit wider than flat toast (although we have had issues of them not being wide enough at times).  I like the fact that the sides do stay cool--no burning of fingers.  Overall, fair for the money, but as I said, a bit finicky with the cooking.

My Proctor Silex toaster has been great. I never have to worry about the kids touching it and getting burned. The rubber fett makes it stay in place so little hands can't slide it off. The settings for toast are also awesome. I have never had burnt toast nor toast to lite. It does it job and does it well. I will never own any other brand of toaster except Proctor Silex. This was given to me as a gift when I moved and it was the best gift ever. If anyone wants the perfect toaster then Proctor Silex is the one to purchase. I never have any problems with crumbs building up in and around the coils like most cheap brand. It's so easy to clean. You just wipe it with a damp cloth and it looks like it just came out of the box. My five year old Grandson loves to make his own toast every morning. I would never let him cause I knew he would get burned with my old toaster. My Proctor silex toaster never gets hot not even around the openings. It's so safe and efficient! So Mom's if you want the best you can buy in a toaster the buy the Proctor Silex Cool Touch!
