Even though the playstation 2 is pretty much obsolete nowadays, what with the xbox 360 and playstion 3 out, I still love it. It has lasted me a very long time and still works great. The PlayStation 2 is probably the best video game console that has ever been made. The reasons are simple. It was not outrageously expensive. The console when it first came out was expensive, however since then the price has dropped considerably allowing a wide distribution and acceptance among gamers. The sony Playstation 2 is a extrmly reliable gaming system. I have had the new PS2 Slim for about 3 years now and i have not once had a problem with it also before that I had one of the old larger ones for 2 years and never had a problem with it either. My cousin on the other hand bought a Xbox 360 and about a week after he bought it he got the 3 rings of death. so he turned it in for a new one and a week later again he got the 3 rings of death. I am not very surprised why in spite of having Wii's, XBox's and PS3's all in the market PS2 is holding its gorund. I think  It's one of the best consoles of all time. Here are my thoughts

1. Console has not been discointinued by Sony

2. Games are still being designed and developed for the console.

3. Console costs only about half of what it costed like 2 years ago.

4. Console costs are way too low as compared to any other consoles such as PS3, XBox, XBox 360 and Wii.

5. Backwards Compatibility with PlayStation.

6. Wide variety of cheap games are available in New and Used section as compared...

The play station 2 gaming systems, is one of the best game system I have every played. All four of my childern love to play it too. We have had a playstation for many years, We started with the play station one and played it for a while and then when the play station two came out, we just had to have it.  We play it about everday. Me sixteen old son plays it everyday, for hours on end.  We have over 50 games for it. Ranging in kids, teen, etc. I would tell everyone that they should own a play station 2. We have bought a second one, because everyone would fight over who got to play it next. So...

The playstation 2 is a great value with the price just recently lowering to make it affordable for almost everyone.  I love the wide range of games which are available for this console and the fact that you can use your original playstation games with this console.  Only complaint is it can be very slow to load with some games.  I love the wireless controller feature as it lets you roam around or sit in a more comfortable place to play.  Also plays DVD discs which is great to free up space around the TV.  Another complaint with that console is that it opens on the top which makes it difficult...

So, about the Play Station 2... I absolutely love this game console! Even though it has been around for a while, it still never ceases to amaze me. The entertainment value varies based on games, however the overall system use is always pleasing. It's easy to use and has a long life span (I've had the same system for several years without issue).
