PaperBackSwap.com Review Summary

People who like to read are usually faced with the reality of high prices on new books, but the internet has helped to solve these and other problems in many ways and one of them is Paperbackswap, a web service that helps members obtain books free of charge. Reviewers of this web service like it for its great selection, no cost membership, and the ability obtain most any book- including hardcover- without having to pay. Paperbackswap is the “Best Place for Bookaholics to Gather and Share” and other than the waiting time to receive a shipment and the fact that you have to pay postage on the books you trade, Paperbackswap is a good way to get the books you want and it ranks highly among Entertainment Web Sites.

There is no fee to join paperbackswap, and you get books for free!  All you do is, you post books that you have at home you no longer want.  Other members can view your books & request one to be sent to them.  All you do is pay the shipping, which is usually only two dollars or… read full review »

I joined Paperback Swap 18 months ago, after hearing about it from other readers at iVillage.  Many of us were already members of BookCrossing, and - being avid readers - we were happy to discover a new site for swapping books. — At first, I was impressed and found the… read full review »

What I'm about to tell you sounds too good to be true, but there is absolutely NO CATCH whatsoever.  I've been a member of paperbackswap for about a year, and I can tell you from experience that it's a very simple way to get used books for free.  FREE! — Here's the deal.  Just dig through your closet and find some old books you no longer want.  Then you "post" your books on the site under your name.  If someone on the site wants one of your books, you simply print out the wrapper from your computer.  The wrapper will already have the address of the person… read full review »

Books are expensive.  Plain and simple.  This website is designed for us cheapskates that have a hard time parting with our money!  Paperbackswap.cpm is FREE to join.  How it works is that you post some of your old books that you don't want anymore, and others do the same.  You get to pick books you would like to receive from other people and they are responsible for paying the shipping to you.  Of course, you have to do the same for others when they request your books.  But, come on!  Most shipping costs are around two or three dollars, and that is a… read full review »

If you love to read, than this is a great site to visit.  It's fun, fast, and best of all, it's FREE!!!  What you do is look for a book that you are interested in reading.  Once you locate that book on this site, you request it.  Then another member will mail it right to your house.  When you are done reading it, you list it back on the site and then some one else requests it.  The only catch is you have to pay for shipping when you mail out the book, but when you recieve it, it's free.  The only down fall to listing books on this site is that it's a first… read full review »

Paperback Exchange is so much more than just paperbacks.  At this website you are able to request hardcover, children's books,  audiobooks, workbooks, etc.  — Here's the idea.  You create an account at this website.  After doing this, you can peruse used books until your heart's content.  If you can't stand the thought to get rid of your books, you can purchase credits that will allow you to request gently used books to read, otherwise you just upload the ISBN numbers from your gently used books and receive credits for swapping them with other… read full review »

Here is a website disigned by book lovers for book lovers. Two guys who shared a raging passion for reading and found that they had shelves of books they had read and were always buying more, came up with the idea that similar minded people could swap books with each other via website and the US Postal Service. — When you get to their website, you can join right away. There is no entrance fee, and the rules are simple. You have to log in 9 books or more to get started (most people who use this site have maybe 9 SHELVES of books!) After you have logged in your books, you start out with… read full review »

I've long been an avid reader. Sometimes I can read 2 to 5 books a WEEK! That tends to get expensive if I have to buy new books.Recently I found an AWESOME site called Swap-A-Book. There you post a list of books you are willing to swap with other readers. Once you post 10 books you are given 2 "credits". You can then use those credits to request any books posted by others. You earn more when your books are requested and you mail them out. Once they are received, the requestor will notify the site and you are given credit. It's great! Basically you are getting a book for the cost of shipping… read full review »

I've belonged to paperbackswap for about two years and really love this site.  In all my transactions I've only received a bad book twice.  Which really isn't all that bad considering my hundreds of transactions.  For the most part people there are pretty honest and try to deal fairly with you.  Just like they expect you to deal fairly with them.  This site is wonderful for a heavy reader like me and I've found that you usually don't have to wait all that long to receive a new book in the mail.  I don't really think that paying postage is a con,… read full review »

PAPERBACKSWAP.COM is one of the best ideas to come down the pike. It is a place to get books for free. You have to get credits in order to get them, of course. You start  by listing at least 9 books you are willing to swap out, and you are given 3 starter credits. You can use these to order 3 books from the over a million listed by members. Some are on wait lists, but most are out there to be had as soon as the other person mails it. Most books you mail out are sent by Media Mail, which is pretty inexpensive, about $2.65 for the average paperback. You then print out the "Wrapper", which… read full review »

I found this site at just the right time.  School was ending and I had recieved the summer reading list from my son's school.  I found a couple of book trading sites, but the post 10 books and recieve credits for swapping at PaperBackSwap.com convinced me to try this site. — Within 2 weeks I had 2 of the 3 books my son needed for summer reading and it had cost me nothing!  I was so excited I suggested the site to a number of other moms. — — Since joining at the end of May, I have sent 3 books and recieved 3 books. — The process is simple, you post books… read full review »

At www.paperbackswap.com, you can trade books you've already read for books you want, absolutely free! I almost never pay for my books anymore because of this site! It's great! The only con is that, while there are a ton of books available, sometimes books you want may not be available and you have to place them on a wishlist until someone else lists it for you to request. In this case, though, if you really just can't wait for it there is a link where you can buy it from another website if you want (I think amazon?). They also have sister sites www.swapacd.com and www.swapadvd.com —… read full review »

This is a great site for people who love to read, but don't have a ton of money to spend on books. It is absolutely free to join, although there are options that cost money, but are strictly voluntary. When you sign up and post 10 books (hardback, paperback, or audiobooks) that you are willing to let go of, the site gives you 2 credits which you can use to request books from other members. You pay nothing when you request a book. When another member requests one of your books, you pay only the cost of postage (which is even available on their site). You get 1 credit for each book you send… read full review »

Great way to find books for free. It does not have to be a paperback. Hardcover, fiction, non-fiction, children's, cookbooks, etc. etc. etc. You may think that your books would not be requested, but you would be surprised. Once you register your first 10 books, you get two credits (that's two books) that you can request. Once you mail off the books requested from your list, the receiver acknowledges receiving the book(s) and you will then get more credits. You can also purchase credits. This site is a great way to swap out books you no longer want and request books that you have been wanting… read full review »
