one sixtyblue - Chicago, IL —
Came to one sixtyblue for restaurant week with my wife and a friend who were both excited about coming here because it had gotten great reviews on Yelp. We all ordered off the restaurant week menus, so that's a little context for you. I got the leek gnocchi appetizer, which was actually pretty good, while my two dining companions ordered the gumbo. Gumbo was extremely salty and both of them did not finish their portions, when you're not finishing appetizers for an 8:30 dinner reservation, you know its not good. Main courses were also dissapointing. I got the Hanger steak, which was dryer than i wanted (even though it was medium rare). My dining partners got the salmon which was standard salmon and chicken which tasted dry and uninspiring. Dessert was good, homemade sorbets for me and i can't remember what everybody else got.
The dining room is actually pretty big and spacious, filled with young folks going out for a nice night on the town. We had a great table by the window too (though the view of Randolph street leaves much to be desired, but that's not their fault). Also, the atmosphere of this restuarant is great; it's built out great and definitely a cool space. Too bad the food dissapointed.
All in all, a decent experience, great atmosphere, but the food didn't live up to the hype, at least not for restaurant week.
