My Coke Rewards —

My husband and I drink a lot of soda, so it was only natural that we would register for My Coke Rewards.  I was excited and constantly went in there with every bottle of soda we got just to get my 3 lousy points.  That was it - 3 pts per bottle, no matter what size it was.

I quickly realized it would take us a long long time to get enough points for anything good.  I was aiming for the 285 point photo album from snapfish, or something of equal value.  Either way, we only had 75 points after a long long time of doing this.  Turns out, we don't drink soda as much as other people do because there's no way we could get 285 points that fast!

Various times they alerted me that my points would expire if I didn't enter a new one in within the next few days.  I would tear apart the house looking for a bottle we may have missed, or tell my husband to make his next purchase a coke, just so I could save my points.  Well.. it finally happened.  Our points actually expired this time.  BOOOOOO.  I just hadn't had time to get a coke!  I don't understand why points would ever expire.  It seems like the majority of the population would have their points expire because they don't drink coke every week or they don't remember to visit the website.  I believe we were up to 80 something points.

Now I just don't care.  No more My Coke Rewards for me!  Even if I start it up again, who knows if I'll get busy for a few months and lose all my points again.

This program is a waste of time unless you seriously drink Coke products many times a week AND you visit the website weekly to ensure you are actively adding new codes.  There are really no good prizes until you hit about 200 points and up.  The REALLY good prizes you can't get unless you own a school and steal all the students coke bottles!  Don't bother otherwise.

PS: I never know when the promotion will end.  Apparently they already extended it once, when I had no idea it was about to end until I got the email saying the extended it.  So what if you save all your points and they then end the promotion?  You'd have wasted your time.  Once again.  BOOOOO

Yep they are losing customers by doing this. I think their goal is to have you spend your points on small stupid stuff and never acquire anything that's worthwhile. Too bad!!! Sorry you lost your points.

KimsKorner wrote on Sep 13, 2009 at 2:57AM

I have given up on the points. Tried once lost them all, expired. Tried again because my daughter wanted to save for something good then things went away, plus remembering to put them in, and you can only enter so many per day. I think if I buy the coke get the points I should be able to enter as many as I want. I got loads of them here just sitting here. I also think they should not expire. I mean I paid for the product. Seriously love my Coke but seriously considering to give Pepsi my business since Coke just offers empty promises on rewards programs makes me think why support them.

I believe any kind of points program, ANY should let you add all your points you have AND not expire, unless you dont log in for like 6 months or a year. That goes for Coke or any points program. Just my two cents, and I am a BIG Coke drinker. That may change very soon though

I lost my points with Pepsi rewards when one day, the promotion just ended. I stopped buying Pepsi products and went to Coke because the mycokerewards seemed so reliable. I went on vacation over the summer and lost all my points! 270 :( I guess we're going back to Dr. Pepper since I get this sick feeling everytime I look at a coke can now!!

It is not idiotic to think that I could have saved my points over time. It's their loss, because I was trying to drink Coke often until my points expired and then I went back to Pepsi, my brand of choice.

tastycoke wrote on Jul 29, 2009 at 9:06PM

If you actually drink coke a lot my coke rewards is great. If you don't then don't bother. Just don't be an idiot and expect to get amazing prizes for drinking a bottle of coke once a month

Yes that was my fear too! The prizes rotated so much that I was afraid I'd waste time saving up tons of points for nothing. Actually, since I get free fountain drinks at work, I hardly find the need to buy pop anymore. And at home, I rarely buy coke products, mostly pepsi b/c we like Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist and the like.

lizbeth374 wrote on Jul 8, 2009 at 10:30AM

i feel your pain. i had over 400 points that i was saving up to get a back pack. just as i was about to have enough point to get it, they removed that item from the prizes. since i couldnt find something else i wanted, my points expired and i lost them ALL!! i am done with them. i prefer pepsi anyway.

I know! People commented that it's my fault for not buying coke more often, but because my points expired, it made me NOT want to buy coke anymore! So they screwed themselves by making points expire b/c now I don't even care if I get Coke or Pepsi or anything else.

tbull01 wrote on May 24, 2009 at 12:58PM

This is a pure scam!!! Why do the points expire soooo quickly?

Yeah some people are telling me it's my own fault for not coming to the site in 3 months, but I didn't think that was THAT LONG.

myahquote wrote on Dec 7, 2008 at 11:42AM

Screw Coke they took my rewards away and don't provide an email to contact them at. 3 months is inactivity? what planet are these fools from. SCREW COKE I"m done with their products!

For those of us who do drink Coke products all the time, it really doesn't take much effort to get good prizes. The free Coke makes it worth the little effort to me.

In response to FLBoop's comment from Nov 15, 2008 at 8:03PM:

None of the prizes at the lower point range are worth it anyway. I found I'd have to buy coke all the time if I really wanted a good prize, so the program just isn't worth it.

FLBoop wrote on Nov 15, 2008 at 8:03PM

You can get your points back - just write to them and give them some excuse why you were unable to add points in a timely manner. they let you go up to 90 days of inactivity before they take the points away - surely you can buy 1 Coke every 90 days! I find more than that in parking lots!

In response to danielber34's comment from Oct 31, 2008 at 6:10PM:

Sorry but I rarely buy coke anymore. Only reason I was was because of the codes, but now that I don't do it, I usually buy whatever is cheaper. Good luck with your prizes at least!

In response to cokecol's comment from Aug 23, 2008 at 2:14PM:

It's there fault that they expire the points. If they really wanted me to drink coke, they wouldn't let the points expire so quickly. Since the points expired, I rarely by coke products anymore - so it's their loss!

danielber34 wrote on Oct 31, 2008 at 6:10PM

I agree with you even though I'm still collecting and have about 300 points. Do you mind sending them to danielber34@gmail.com? Thank you.

cokecol wrote on Aug 23, 2008 at 2:14PM

I'm a regular coke drinker and I've got some really nice things from them. Not there fault you don't drink enough so don't knock the coke rewards program it's you

I love it. We have gotten free football tickets, a five disk cd changer, gift card to Football Fanatics, lots of magazine subscriptions, and still have 8,000 pts. We get them from family members, co workers, and drink coke! We have stock in it!!!

Katrena wrote on Jul 2, 2008 at 11:55PM

I agree that the points shouldn't expire. I keep a collection of caps in the computer desk drawer and enter one code if they send me a message that they will expire. So far I've been lucky and haven't lost any points but I can see how I could lose them really fast.

In response to AmyA's comment from Jun 30, 2008 at 11:59AM:

Yeah i had a time where I seriously entered the code 10 times and every time it was wrong. Turned out the N was actually an H or something like that. Arg!! My dad's been doing pepsi stuff and that's been going well for him b/c my parents drink a lot of pepsi!

AmyA wrote on Jun 30, 2008 at 11:59AM

That is just nuts...Glad you wrote the review...what they won't do to sell the product. That is way to much soda and I agree...to hard to read those codes. I did it once and for the life of me I couldn't get it to work and gave up.

In response to elvisdo's comment from Jun 28, 2008 at 9:10AM:

Exactly my feelings. The ones you want take so many points that it's impossible, and the ones you can get are not worth the trouble!

elvisdo wrote on Jun 28, 2008 at 9:10AM

I've pretty much given up with My Coke Rewards. A lot of the prizes are unattainable and unappealing at the same time.

I never get enough points to get anything but I did win $20 from Pepsi once...;)

LisaCarey wrote on Jun 25, 2008 at 11:26AM

it works for us my complaint is that in order to get a good prize I have to drink a truckload of coke products. But in our house coke is the first choice so there is just about always a code laying around (5 right now) I have considered quiting but am holding out for that free year of blockbuster.com

vivasuzi wrote on Jun 25, 2008 at 7:41AM

In response to kid-kansas's comment from Jun 24, 2008 at 7:47PM:

I totally agree! Even with the warnings I often just barely got another coke bottle in. Besides, it says 90 days of inactivity, but I don't think it was 90 days since I last entered a code b/c I really remember doing some in May! Whatever!!

kid-kansas wrote on Jun 24, 2008 at 7:47PM

Now that stinks big time!!! You would think as long as the promotion is active the points would be good...BOO Coca Cola!
