My Coke Rewards —

I am a huge soda drinker (4-5 cans per day), so the My Coke Rewards program works very well for me:

What's good about the program:

  1. If you drink a lot of Coke, you can get some really neat prizes in the process.  I have gotten a $50 gift certificate to Football Fanatics.com and a chair for my balcony, among other things.
  2. The prizes are very good (at the higher point levels), and they have partnerships with companies such as Holiday Inn (Priority Club) and Budget Rent-a-Car.
  3. It doesn't take long to get your prizes.  Some rewards sites take an excessive amount of time to ship rewards, but My Coke Rewards doesn't.
  4. Codes are available on a wide variety of products, thereby making it easier to accumulate points regardless of your tastes.
  5. Packages containing codes are readily available.  I've participated in similar programs where I've had difficulty finding the packages with the codes on them.  I've never had that problem with My Coke Rewards.

What's not so good about the program:

  1. You have to drink a lot of Coke to get a good prize.  It really helps to have a supplemental source of points like I do.  : )
  2. You occasionally get a code that's difficult, if not impossible to read.  I hate when that happens.
  3. The points do expire eventually, which I don't really understand.

I started to write that it is unfair that a 20 oz bottle and a 2 liter bottle are both worth 3 points, but actually it isn't.  Think about it.  Around here, a 20 oz bottle of coke costs $1.29 at most convenience stores, while at the grocery store, 2 liter bottles are often on sale for that price or less.  It doesn't go by the volume of Coke you buy, but rather by how much you're paying for it.  That being said, I would suggest building your fortune of points using 12 packs of cans, which are worth 10 points each.  Building up points using 20 oz bottles and 2 liter bottles is like building a mansion out of toothpicks.  You'll get it done eventually, but it's going to take a really long time.

Overall, if you're a huge Coke drinker and/or have a supplemental source of points, it's a great program.  If you have a Coke or 2 every once in a while, you're probably just wasting your time.

I love My Coke Rewards--I get the freebies (like today, I redeemed for a free Coke Zero). I have no idea what I'm saving for, though.

Thanks for the info--I've been saving lids for a while now and actually got a free download of some music that I now use in teaching yoga. I have also had a few codes I couldn't read--one on a 12-pack...ugh!

I love Coca-Cola; been drinking it since, like, forever. I signed up with with MyCoke Rewards but getting the numbers right, particularly from the 12-packs, is sometimes difficult because they're not very legible at times.

I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke but honestly never took advantage of the points. Guess I should have huh? Good review!

In response to elvisdo's comment from Jun 28, 2008 at 8:43AM:

I find that the prizes are geared more towards single 20-somethings and 30-somethings. Most of the prizes are not really family oriented, except the Blockbuster stuff.

I'm not too crazy with the prize selections at all. Makes me wonder why I still continue with this program.
