My Coke Rewards —

We've been saving caps and Coke packaging and entering codes on MyCokeRewards for about a year now, and here is what I have found regarding this website:

How it works:

Entering Codes:

  1. Purchase a Coke product that has a specially marked code.
  2. Go to the website and sign up.
  3. Type in codes. Enter more codes...get more points. A twelve pack will earn more points than a 12 oz. bottle, etc.. I have had some trouble entering codes. Some codes are not clearly marked on the packaging and a few codes on items I bought had already been entered by someone else...hmmm.....It was particularly frustrating when several codes I had on 12-packs would not take when they had a double points day for those.
  4. They are going to be dropping the limit of 10 codes per day and instead going with a weekly limit soon, so that might make entering codes a little easier.
  5. They have added options to download points from your cell phone now, but I have never used that option.

Redeeming Points:

  • The website adds opportunity for point redemption pretty regularly, but they also remove some of the better prizes regularly and tend to add more sweepstakes. They offer a large variety of prizes with everything from coke products to some pretty large prizes (which involve way more points than I would ever be able to collect).
  • I was excited to be able to get a music download for an album at Rhapsody a while back. I had just about gotten enough points to do another album when they changed the requirements and made the point requirement much higher for that some prize.
  • They now have sweepstakes (which I never enter because I want a sure thing) for all sorts of prizes. These typically require a fairly small number of points.
  • People may also choose to donate money to charity by using a set number of points. They have various charities from which to choose and offer some information regarding the charities.
  • I am thinking that there may be a requirement to keep the account active. I tend to keep caps in a ziplock bag in my computer desk and enter a few codes every couple of weeks, so I have not lost any points, but I can see that it would be a real drag to lose points. We get emails from MyCokeRewards about special offers like double points days, but double points are not offered as often as they used to offer them.

Website Design:

  • You must sign up on the website in order to enter codes.
  • Entering the codes is fairly easy, as long as I can read it on the cap or box.
  • You can browse the various prizes in several different ways, such as point value (and it lists the points you have earned at the top), prize type such as music, Coke products, electronics, or clothing, or choose whether or not to view sweepstakes.
  • The website is full of graphics that seem to take a long time to load on my computer. I have DSL.
  • It was difficult to see certain parts of the website until we made some adjustments on our monitor display.
  • Some of the links and buttons do not seem to work correctly for me. I have not tried to contact Coke through the website or otherwise regarding codes that I cannot read or that have already been entered, so I cannot adequately rate their customer service.
  • Surveys will often appear on the site, but I do not see where answering these surveys will earn any extra points.

Update:

  • I just saw where they have added the option to donate points to schools for various things from art supplies to sporting equipment. For those who drink Coke but are not interested in the prizes, this might be a great opportunity for involvement with a local school.

My Viewpoint:

My Coke Rewards offers rewards for drinking Coke products. I'll stick with drinking tap water, but I have enjoyed what few prizes I have earned from the Coke products that my husband drinks. I'm giving MyCokeRewards three stars because you can get free prizes just for entering some codes, but some codes are hard to read or have already been entered, and parts of the website do not seem to work properly for me.

I haven't lost any points personally but I've read some reviews where people mentioned that as well. I signed up for email reminders and have managed to keep my points so far. I would be pretty disappointed after working toward points for months to lose them all.

I'm still doing the MyCokeRewards, but I think you have some valid points about it. I don't expect to get any of the really cool prizes, but I was disappointed when they increased the points for one I was working towards. Thanks for stopping by and reading!

By the way, if you do not enter anypoints in a month, you will lose all the points and will start at zero.

Mycokerewards sucks, site is too sloooooow, you can log in only 120 points per week when before you could log in 30 points daily, points per prize are way high, not worth the time.

Yea--we're SLOWLY adding points but they'll probably up the points again before we get enough for what we want. I know a lot of people are getting codes other ways. I seriously doubt that people actually drink enough Coke in one household to actually get enough points for the HUGE prizes.

I am like you--I joined about 2 years ago and don't drink enough to earn the points necessary to get good products. And when I do decide to get a 16 oz. Coke I usually forget to enter the code on the cap. It's ashame that they would up the ante when people started earning the points. That is probably a marketing ploy to encourage people to drink more but it doesn't work with me!!
