Most HelpfulI love my MagicJack. I must confess, I was skeptical at first, however I am very happy with my MagicJack. It costs me about $1 per month, as opposed to $40 or more through the "phone company". I seldom, if ever, have a problem, and when I do it is usually my computer, not the MagicJack itself. I have...

Most HelpfulI was tired of paying for home phone service just because of where I live. I'm one of the few people I knew my age that has a cell phone and a home phone. I always have my computer on so it made since to switch to VOIP.
I couldn't see paying for cable internet and vonage. That seemed a bit redundant...
review »I took my Magicjack out of it's package, skimmed the instructions, plugged the Magicjack in and less than two minutes later I had a phone number and tested it out. It worked well, the sound quality was as good as our normal phone line, so we will now stop paying our phone company for long distance calls, and doing so will save us about $240 a year.
Right now we could not get a phone number with our own area code, but it really doesn't matter since we won't be using it for incoming local calls as we will keep our landline until Magicjack has numbers in our area. But it will still be very...
review »I have owned my magicJack for about a year and had nothing but good experinces. The quality has been great except when an unnamed Cable company is performing maintence in my area. It would recommend it to anyone that is tired of the their landline provider, or needs an additional line in their home or office.
I puchased a Magic Jack MagicJack over a year ago. Love it and recommend to my friends.
Originally purchased for making long distance calls but have found it really useful as a second line for regular use.
I purchased an inexpensive (refurbished unit off ebay) DECT 6.0 phone system to use with it. I plugged base phone into magicjack on upstairs computer and have two extensions downstairs.
The only reason I have not cancelled my regular landline is because I have a five year contract w/our monitored alarm service. On the magicjack site there is infomation on how to use w/ whole house phone system...
review »The MagicJack is wonderful, it has all the features you want in a phone service. Unlimited local and long distance calling, caller ID, call waiting, hold, mute, call log,& voice-mail. When you purchase the MagicJack you get the first year of service for free (you still have to pay for inter-net access!), it's only $19.95 a year after that. What are you paying for phone service? More than $20 bucks a year I'll bet.
Like all great products it has few draw backs, like you have to have your computer on to receive and make calls, so I don't recommend hooking it up to a laptop. Call quality is...
review »For an initial outlay of $20 for the device and $20 per year for service, I wasn't expecting much. At worst I thought that I'd be down $40 if service turned out to be horrible. In fact, the MagicJack service was even better than I expected. I was just wanting to use this as a glorified answer machine and it does the job perfectly. Any missed calls are sent as sound files to my email address and I can listen at my leisure.
Sound quality is great, but I do have the Comcast power-user internet package (12mb down and 2mb up) and a voice call should take no more than 70k per direction. There...
review »Purchased over a year ago. Used for a few months so far as of April. Worth the price if you want it to be your only landline phone. Make sure your computer has an Intel based chip before purchasing. It's best to purchase online since you can earn points at MyPoints.com for obtaining it through that website. You are likely to get a phone number that has three numbers after the area code that aren't easily identifiable with your town. The city's population may depend on it. If I were to call you, your caller ID might say Woodburn, OR. You get $19.95 for the first year and only $49.95 for five more...
review »I ordered our MagicJack was excited as we only use cell phones have no home phone hooked it up and it was miss and hit every other word the person you were calling could hear so I was disapointed so it said you could get a dsl attachment to make it work clearer so off to the store we got the gadget for like $6.00 thought ok now its going to work and nope still did not work so we live way out in the country so we took it to town to our daughters house plugged it in juat the magicjack and it worked great from her house but we had to send it back because our internet wasn't fast enough out here in...
