invisibelt -all belt no bulk- —

I was surfing the internet when somehow I came across an ad for the invisibelt. I was intrigued because this belt was being advertised as "all belt no bulk". Most women have experienced that bump in the front from a belt when wearing a T-shirt over jeans. I thought that this belt being flat with no bulky buckle was a great concept! I checked the belt out at the website invisibelt.com and then told my sister about it. Before I had a chance to buy it, she ordered us both one. At $19.99 a piece plus around $8 for shipping, I was expecting a much better product.

About the invisibelt

The invisibelt is made of clear, smooth, plastic and has a flat clasp in the front. There is a "buckle" on the side that adjusts like a bra to fit sizes 2 -14. The Invisibelt extends to 44 inches in length; the width is 7/8th. The invisibelt can be ordered online at invisibelt.com or other online stores as well as some retail stores. The website has a listing of the retail stores and locations.

My Thoughts and Experience

When my sister handed me this belt, I was surprised at the container that it came in. The plastic belt was rolled into a circle and placed in a plastic bag inside of a small round soft plastic container. That was kind of cool but once I opened the container and took the belt out, it was somewhat difficult to get the belt unwoven from the circle it was wound in. It kept curling back up but after a while of me smoothing it out, it was straighter. My very first thought when looking at this belt was "This cost $19.95?" It really looked cheaply made and was literally just a long clear piece of plastic. Well, "okay" I thought. "I will be wearing this belt with my shirt over it so looks really don't mean much." I got over my initial reaction and started reading the instructions that came with it. It firmly states not to try to adjust the belt after you put it on. Therefore, I held the belt around my waist to see how long it needed to be and moved the strip of plastic through the "adjuster" (looks more like a belt buckle to me) upward forming a loop. I am either uncoordinated or this is not as simple as the instructions make it sound. I had my sister help me out and together we got it adjusted to the right length. I put it through my belt loops, fit the interlocking pieces together, and snapped the belt closed.

My biggest issue with this belt is although the makers of the invisibelt are correct about the flat clasp in the front, they fail to mention that the "adjuster" that is about the size of an average buckle lands somewhere on your side depending on the length you need to adjust the belt to. I didn't have that front bump but I did have a hump coming out of my side. I admit that it isn't as noticeable as it would be in the front but enough that I felt self-conscious about it being there. My next issue I have is that the belt is somewhat wide and doesn't fit smaller belt loops. There is also no plus size version of this belt at this time. Another big issue I have is that after wearing this belt for several hours, I noticed that the belt got bigger and wasn't as tight. Apparently, the "adjuster" didn't hold as tight as it should have.

My Final Viewpoint

The invisibelt is a big to do about nothing. There are plenty of other belts out there that work just as well for less money. Yes, I didn't have a large bump where the buckle of a belt normally is but I did have one poking out of my side. I liked the concept but unfortunately, the invisibelt wasn't as invisible as they said it would be. I have to go with only a 2 star rating on this one folks. I'm not impressed.

Thanks, I almost bought it, and decided to look at reviews first.
It doesn't sound like a good buy at $20 plus.

That's too bad that it doesn't work. Good idea though!

This belt should definitely be lower in price. It costs very little to make in a plastics factory. I haven't tried it but I am curious. I'm surprized the buckle part is so big. Defeats the prpose of no bump, simply moves it to the side. Guess it also depends on what you wear over it. Great review. Thanks for the info. Also enjoyed reading everyone else's comments.

Bad deal, that's what it sounds like. ;>

I completely disagree. I have it and love my Invisibelt. I am loosing weight and I've been able to use the adjuster to my benefit. It definitely has a slimming effect. I tried the Isabelt - but didn't like it. It isn't a sophisticated product. Invisibelt is in all of the style magazines - they are doing something right!

I have the Invisibelt and think it rocks --so do all of my friends. I don't have any issue with it stretching, or the bulge on the side. I find if you pull the clasp tight, my top lies flat and I'm not pulling up my pants at all (just as advertised). Love it!

Hey thanks! The isabelt one is much slimmer and the adjusters look less bulky. Hmm, it's a bit less expensive too. I appreciate the info!

I heard my wife talking about another similar belt that she and her friends love called IsABelt. It's narrower and thinner than this belt with two small adjusters, one on each side which lay flat. I know they say they can't live without it and joke to me that I should get the men's version, hisABelt to keep my butt crack to myself. Check it out at... www.isabelt.com

haha ... Ya know, I debated as to whether to give it one or two stars. I guess I figured that it is a cool concept and the hump on the side isn't too huge.

When I was in school a girl walked like your before and after picture, she didn't seem aware of who silly it looked. Why did you give the belt two stars? It doesn't sound like it's that good.

I totally agree with everything you said. Whatta rip. The idea seemed like such a good one but this version is not what I expected at all. Sigh.
