Perfect for Traveling
Much of the time having an auto charger for my iPhone isn't that big of a deal, but I can go from never needing it for months to it seeming nearly like a life or death situation. Admittedly, that's a huge exaggeration, but suffice it to say I can go from not needing it at all to it being very important.
The first one I bought was when our home phone and electric were out with a bad storm. I needed contact with the outside world and my iPhone was dead, so I went to the store and bought a charger. The cord wasn't the best on it, and the connection snapped after awhile. My son had one that came with a complete connection kit for his iPod, and that worked for a small while, but you had to really play with it to find the right placement to get it to charge. Now I'm finding myself needing a charger again. It's football season and for us that means an hour plus of travel both there and back some weeks. If it's raining, the game still goes on, so I like to have my phone with me so I can do work, email, etc. But there's no way the charge will last for an entire afternoon of constant use. So I went to a Best Buy close to one of our away games and bought the InCase 2-in-1 Charger for iPod & iPhone in order to keep myself amused. Again, not life or death, but it can seem like it.
Looking around in Best Buy I found both of the previous auto chargers we used, and of course now knew I didn't want those. For less than $40 I bought this one from InCase. What makes it unique is that it performs double duty. I can use it as a charger in the car, or I can use it inside in a wall outlet. It's versatile and can be the only one you use, other than when you perform a synch with your computer.
Not that I woiuld ever carry it back and forth inside and out, as that's just a little much. But if I'm going somewhere it makes it the only charger I would need. I found myself sometimes stuffing my home charger into my purse, just in case when I was going to class and my phone was close to being dead or if I was visiting somewhere for several hours and my phone was close to dead. This way I don't need to have one in the car and carry a separate one in my purse. Whenever I feel like I'm going to need it wherever I'm going, I just unplug it from the car and take it in. And the more I charge it in the car, the less I need to charge it inside anyway.
The only thing I don't like about the unit is it's a little large, unsightly even. It's about the size of my hand if I was giving the thumbs up, but I have somewhat smaller hands. {How many of you reading this right now are doing a thumbs up and looking at the size?) So that is protuding out of my outlet in my car. It's not a dealbreaker, though, as I'll take the 2-in-1 benefit over anything. And despite the size, this InCase charger has been my favorite so far.
