Love this robot.

    Nearly hands off operation., save time; fun to watch, auto shut off

    it gets struck on my chair a few times.

     The most impressive function I love about this iRobot Roomba 550 is auto docking. The robot could go back to his/her charging station by himself/herself 9 out of 10 times. This is impressive for $300 's. Roomba 550 works on carpet as well as on hardfloors. After our new carpet has been vacuumed it was quite very clean as if we used a regular size vacuum cleaner.

     I'm waiting to buy a more improvement of lower maintenace, larger trash storage and more small spot cleaning's patterns.

iRobot Roomba 550 works for me and the performance is resonable for $300's price range.
Simple things (that don't bother me) such as clearing stuffs & household appliances' power cord in the robot path helps reducing time and improving cleaning effectiveness, though the robot can avoid these objects.
When it comes to maintenance issue, I clean (hair, carpet thread and dust) the robot after 2-3 times of use which is fine for me at least now.
