iRobot Roomba 530 Robotic Vacuum Review Summary

Do you need more time in your schedule and hate vacuuming? Many of our reviewers suggest using the iRobot Roomba 530 Robotic Vacuum to keep your floors clean. It sweeps up dirt, cat litter, pet hair, and leaves you free to go do something else. Njchicca says, “It does an excellent job of cleaning my hardwood floors, vinyl floors, and area rugs.” Phottophatty67 says, “the Roomba does a surprisingly wonderful shop of sucking up all of the dirt and dust from both carpet and floor, and adjusts to both surfaces and textures.” It is easy to clean up after your Roomba, simply empty the “basket” of dirt into the trash can, no bags or filters needed. Our users would like a longer battery life so that the Roomba could keep going and going, and you do have to keep the dirt tray emptied so you can collect all the dirt on your floors. But if you need to sweep often, are disabled or just hate vacuuming, the iRobot Roomba does do your cleaning for you. Don’t just stop your cleaning with vacuums, find out what other home appliances you should or shouldn’t use to keep your home clean.

When my Roomba Sage died earlier this month and iRobot refused to help us because it was 3 months out of warranty, my husband went out and bought me one of their newest models, the Roomba 530 Vacuuming Robot.  I was angry and ready to swear off iRobot products for life.  That being said, I'm really...

I bought a roomba about 8 months ago as my schedule got really crazy and was very excited about a gadget that could save me a bunch of time on a regular chore. I'm in a 1000sft apartment, so I thought it could easily do the cleaning. I cannot describe enough how disappointed I am with it.

It takes forever...

My husband brought home a present that I thought was going to be a new puppy around Christmas time, and when I came out to the room to where my "present" was, I suddenly heard this "whirring" sound, looked down, and there was my iRobot Roomba® 530 cleaning my carpets and floors for me!  No, folks, it wasn't a puppy, but it was the next best thing ~ something that saves me from the neck and back pain that I always had after using a traditional vacuum.  My husband is a busy man at work and is so tired when he comes home, that the last thing he wants to do is help with the vacuuming.  Our Roomba,...

The Roomba 530 is our second in the last 4 years. This model is quieter and more intelligent than previous versions. We cannot live without a Roomba and will always have one in the future. Our situation makes it invaluable: large expanses of tile and low cut carpet floor. This is the surface Roomba works best on. I wouldn't think these are good machines for small areas or deep carpets. No one is in the house during the day, so turning it on and letting it run gets the job done without us having to do much. I don't think I'd like to be trying to do things in the house when it's running. These machines... review »

I love my iRomba 500 series I have two dogs and one cat and the pet hair it pick's up is unbelievable

It is quite and get into places I can not like under the beds

It is Easy to clean The iRomba is one of the best investment's I could make

I have had to replace the brushes that stick out of the side they do not seam to last long

It can be pogromed to clean at certain times and it does go back to it's docking station

The light towers do a good job of keeping it out where you do not want it to go

The trays do need emped often

Roomba is my new best friend.  He cleans up when I am too tired and does not complain at all.  In fact, Roomba sings a song when he starts and when he is done.
Roomba does a better job than I do and gets under the couch and the buffet console.
Dog hair and bird seed are not a problem for this tough little guy.
The hair and dust is vacuumed up instead of being thrown into a whirlwind of dust to resettle on the furniture and floors.
Roomba keeps my house cleaner than I get it an hour before company arrives for a holiday gathering.
Impressive.
I absolutely love the little guy.

I read a lot about roombas and scoobas before making a choice. I haven't gotten a scooba yet - though I intend to - and I picked the Roomba 530 model. I investigated different models, looked at a lot of different websites, read TONS of reviews. I wanted to get the most up-to-date model I could afford and get that one for the cheapest price possible. I used the comparison chart on the irobot site to see what the real differences are, and for the most part with the 500 models, there's no gigantic differences. I was more interested to see a lot of positive reviews for the model of my choice, as I... review »

This is my second Roomba. I was one of the first people who bought the one originally marketed several years ago, and my first one finally died. I must say that the customer service was very good when I was trying to determine if my first one could be saved. They walked me through several things to check, and then sent me a new battery free of charge (normally those cost $40-60). When nothing worked, and one of those 20%off coupons from Bed,
Bath and Beyond arrived in the mail, I just got a new one.

I love this one just as much as I loved my first one. I absolutely hate vacuuming, but with...

I am on my 4th roomba.  I originally received the roomba red for christmas many years ago.  I loved it, and was devastated when it died after 10 months.  iRobot replaced it, and the replacement worked for 10 months also.  I went for 5 months without one, and hated the way the dust hair built up between vacuumings.  My husband gave me a 530 for Christmas, and he bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond.  After 17 months, the 530 stopped working correctly.  With my receipt in hand, I returned the product to Bed, Bath and Beyond, and told them it had stopped working.  They gave me a brand new roomba,...

I was skeptical of the Roomba, but got it as a gift. I could not believe the amount of dirt it picks up every time! You will spend time watching it at first and being amazed that you actually have a robot. It also works on hard floors (linoleum, wood, tile), which is nice to send it out before you mop. If there are deep grooves inbetween tiles, it will not work as well. I have noticed that ours seems to be louder (I have had it for 4 months now) than it was when we first received it. Perhaps it is because we use it so often. It cleans corners with a spinning brush that sticks out. For spot cleaning,... review »

This Roomba model is convenient and better than not vacuuming, but the machine certainly misses spots and requires constant recharging if you are trying to do multiple rooms.

Also, you are not supposed to use the Roomba on the floor if there is water, so be careful with the bathroom floor after you shower, or using the Roomba around your pets' water bowls which it can knock over.

My Roomba has trouble returning to the base when it runs out of power, and I have read that it is because my docking station is on carpet rather than a completely flat surface.

As others have noted, the brushes require...

This really works best if you don't have a lot of clutter around, and don't mind picking up small throw rugs before turning it on.  I start Roomba and leave the house.  When I get back it's back recharging.  I find its better to clean out the filter after (or before) every Roomba run.  It's pretty easy, just open the door and the dust falls out.

When I first got Roomba I had to clean the brushes more often, but once you get your house initially clean, and if you run it often, you only have to clean the brushes every now and again.

I have owned the Roomba 530 for about a year now.  It is very helpful.  I rotate it with my dyson.  I have 3 dogs and although it is not a deep cleaner it is great to use in between vacuuming.  It's side brushes do break, but are fairly cheap to replace (15 for 3).  it does get stuck at times and I have a very full shaggy area rug that it has trouble going over, but does fine on all my other area rugs.  It is slow, and has a very odd pattern, but also it does get the job done, and is very nice to come home to  clean floors!

I was incredibly impressed with how well the roomba cleaned for I am a perfectionist.  It is the perfect tool for anyone with a disability who wants to do their own house cleaning.  In addition, I would highly recommend it to anyone who works outside the home and has a hard time keeping up with their housekeeping.   It does a superb job not only on carpet, but on vinyl, wood, and tile.  I hope to invest in a second!

Roomba is a life altering experieince , I am a busy professional and vaccumming is one of the weekend chores which can at times just be so exhauting. My house is now spic and span clutter free since we have Roomba. JNow vacuuming is just turn  on Roomba and put my feet up, curl into my favorite chair and read a good book. At first it seems Roomba s erratic but believe me it gets everywhere under the bed furntiure large armoires and cleans it all.
