iRobot Roomba 530 Robotic Vacuum —

I bought a roomba about 8 months ago as my schedule got really crazy and was very excited about a gadget that could save me a bunch of time on a regular chore. I'm in a 1000sft apartment, so I thought it could easily do the cleaning. I cannot describe enough how disappointed I am with it.

It takes forever to clean a medium sized room.

Second, by the time it's done cleaning one or half a room in case of like a living room, it's battery dies and it takes forever to recharge. After recharging, it does not remember where it left off and starts doing the whole thing again and dies again.  So, cleaning the whole house on one go, is out of the question.

It's spot cleaning is not very effective.

It's great at picking up hair, but again cleaning that out of it's bin is a pain.

The cleaning tray has to be cleaned ever so often.

Definitely cannot replace the vaccum.

If the iRobot company adds features like, better battery life (when it does die, it should remember where it last left off and pick it up from there), faster cleaning time and I simplify the cleaning tray cleaning process it might be worth the money.

Right now it's dfinitely not worth it around $300.

My 530 runs over 2 hours and takes about as long to recharge. Maybe you're running it on thick carpet and wearing it down too quickly? Also, how can a machine "remember" where it left off? Roomba's are programmed to move in a semi-random pattern that, over time, covers most of the floor.
