After doing much research and on a recommendation from a co-worker I decided on the iLive AM/FM/CD iPod Boom Box, purchased at Walmart for under $60. I did research various portable ipod docking stations, and being on a budget, I believed this to be a wise choice as far as affordability and portability. I did find some negative comments on this item, mainly complaints on the sound quality or its inability to project sound at all. I do not have this problem with the unit I bought, and my co-worker has a similar model and she has not had any difficulties with the speakers or sound quality. I was actually quite impressed with how easiliy the unit worked, the many adapters it had to fit various ipods, and the quality of the sound. It works on a wall plug or eight "C" batteries, it will charge your ipod, play CDs, and the AM/FM radio. Works great at work, in the kitchen or yard, (or take it to the beach if you're not worried about sand in your laser.) There is a smaller and similar iLive product that only plays the ipod and has the AM/FM radio which is not as expensive (around $40 with tax) and would be fine if I had my entire music library on my ipod, which I don't, so that is why I upgraded to the CD feature. Thus far I have no complaints about this handy little music maker and have suggested to other family members in need of portable solutions for their ipod. I also have recieved the thumbs up from my husband who is an electronics engineer, and usually has something to say about anything electronic. In my opinion, buy without fear.
