When you dump a lot of money into something, you want to make sure you keep it protected. I had a great protective cover for my first iPhone. It was rubberized, and while it wasn't the best looking one out there, I felt it kept my iPhone protected. Not that I plan on anything happening to it, but if it would fall a short distance from the couch to the floor or something, it was always okay. It kind of bounced.

Yet once I got the new iPhone 3GS, I was warned that the old covers might not fit very well. Rubberized, it was able to stretch around the newer phone quite well. However, I found the most annoying thing with my new phone. Unlike my old one, it seemed ultra sensitive to pressure. I couldn't talk on the phone without my ear accidentally hanging up on someone, muting them, putting them on hold, etc. It was quite frustrating, for me as well as whoever I was talking to. I couldn't figure out why the touchscreen was so much more sensitive than my old one. Researching on the Apple website, I found there were proximity sensors added to the newer phone that were covered up by the older covers. Ah-ha!

So as much as I loved the rubberized cover, I needed to find a new one so that I could quit hanging up on people. I wanted to find another rubberized cover, but couldn't find one that wasn't overly bulky. I settled on the iFrogz iPhone 3G & 3GS Luxe case. It's a hard shell case that snaps aroud the iPhone in two separate pieces that has a soft touch to it. It comes in several different colors, but only two choices were available at Best Buy when I was shopping. I ended up with blue/black. It also includes a screen protector film.

I like the looks of the iFrogz case, and it's even less bulky than my old one. However, I worry with it not being rubberized that I'm going to damage theĀ  phone in some way. The case itself snaps onto the phone in two easy pieces, but what was a little confusing was the protective film cover. I remember with my old cover, there seemed to be a separate whole manual just for the installation of that. There weren't any instructions with this, and I did it the way that seemed most logical to me, and I ended up with the stiky part of it facing out, meaning I got lots of little hairs and dust on the cover that wouldn't come off, and now I'm stuck with using that on the phone, although the right way out. It doesn't even stick well anymore, meaning I'm going to have to buy a replacement film cover.

By the time all is said and done, I'm just glad to no longer be losing my calls because of the proximity sensors being covered up. I'll replace the film sheet that protects the touch screen and it will be good as new. I miss the rubberized factor of the cover, but it looks much nicer and sleeker.
