The other day I was speaking with my nephew about TV shows. The discussion was about TV shows that while excellent, just didn't seem to make it.
The conversation turned to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, a show within a show, written and directed by the award winning team of Aaron Sorkin and Tommy Schlamme (West Wing, Sports Night).
The show had gotten caught up in the writer's strike and never made it back, although the few remaining episodes had been aired after the strike was settled.
I had said that I missed a couple of the final episodes and that's when I learned of hulu.com from him.
hulu.com
hulu.com is a joint venture between NBC and Foxintroduced in March of this year. This site features the best of the content produced by these two entertainment giants and their owned cable channels (Bravo, WB) in addition to an impressive and growing number of films from the likes of Warner Brothers and Universal.
You guessed it
hulu.com has a the complete 22 episode inventory of Studio 60... . It also has a treasure trove of hundreds of other series and features that have been produced, waiting to be streamed to your computer in broadcast quality.
Plan to spend some time there
The site is so vast that I found myself there for quite a while taking in an episode or two of series such as Hill Street Blues.
The quality of the video is impressive and you can immediately tell that you're not watching bootleg video because all new 30 second commercials appear during your viewing. Thankfully, they are far fewer than you would be subjected to watching on either NBC or Fox.
Other Networks
If you search for a show produced by another network, hulu.com will provide the appropriate link to allow you to see the show on the appropriate network web-site, a very neat feature.
My Viewpoint
This is one of those hidden gems that you come accross from time to time. I suggest you pay a visit and enjoy!
