I am doing a 12-week weight loss program sponsored by Herbalife. When I enrolled I didn't know that they were sponsoring it. I have bought quite a few of their products. The first one I bought was the Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake Mix. It is for "healthy nutrition and weight management".

The flavor I chose is french vanilla, which is delicious. I add soy or almond mix to two scoops and ice cubes and have a yummy snack. The program suggests that we have one or two shakes a day. I normally have one and stick to the amount of calories per day I should eat.

I paid about $35.00 for a 26.5 ounce canister. This makes 30 servings per container.

It has 19 essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients; however, you will get these in a multi-vitamin. For example, you'll get 35% of Vitamin A when you add milk and 50% of Vitamin D, which you will get if you go outside for 15 minutes a day. Yes I am skeptical because I haven't seen results and I think it is over priced.

The "wellness coaches" say that we all need more protein. One reason they suggest Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake Mix is for the protein. There are 180 calories with 8 ounces of non-fat milk; 1 gram of fat; no cholesterol; 140 mg of sodium; 9 grams of sugar; and only 9 grams of protein. My husband's shake has 25 grams of protein. I have a hard time getting enough protein in my diet so why would I buy another canister of Herbalife Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake Mix?

I haven't found a significant weight loss drinking this product in spite of eating within my calorie range. I could get 180 calories from a protein bar that has more protein if I didn't want to make a shake.

Jo's Viewpoint

Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake Mix is delicious but lacks the amount of protein necessary for me to recommend it. This is just an average shake - nothing special about it.

It's very hard to get that much. I rarely get close to it. I average around 60 and that's hard to do. I do add a 20 gram Think Thin bar which definitely helps. But those shakes should have way more protein if they are 2/3 of your meals!

Hmmm - the last time I was there I don't remember them being on the menu - you're too funny:)

I don't reckon they sell these at McDonalds, do they? :). Nice review!

They told me in the low 100s which is close to what you need.

Wow, I have snack bars with more protein. For my weight and age, I need about 90 grams of protein at least per day. This diet would leave me seriously lacking. Thanks for the info!
