These bottles leak. They leaked 2 years ago when I had my daughter and I tried them again with my newborn son and they still leak.
The wide mouth is great and they are easy to clean, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the bottle leaks. I also use the dishwasher (top rack with basket) for cleaning bottles and the more you wash these the more likley they are to leak. And its not just a little, when these bottles leak they LEAK!

We tried tightening then loosening just a touch.....We tried warming the formula then putting it in the bottle......We tried not tightening the top to much from the start.......Nothing keeps these bottles from leaking. We are going to buy the bottles with BPA in them. We have wasted enough milk and formula to pay the doctor bill to fix whatever BPA causes.

These bottles leak badly!!!! I've read articles on how to prevent them from leaking and nothing has worked. They don't leak all the time, but about 50% of the time. I have had to change my son in the middle of the night and my sheets because the bottle has leaked all over our bed. Just this morning, in the car, I had to take the bottle away from him because it was leaking on him so bad. He cried his heart out all the way to the babysitter's!!!!

I didn't screw the lid on to tight, it is pretty obvious when you do and easy to correct. They still leaked, not around the nipple but from under the cap.

In response to busycharles's comment from Dec 1, 2007 at 11:57PM:

I've used Avent bottles with each of my kids, even though I breastfeed. They only leak if you screw the lid on too tightly, which will then make the nipple buckle. I know, it's a bit counterintuitive, but if you screw the ring on tightly, and then loosen it just a notch, it won't leak.

I received a sample bottle from the hospital and I hated it because it leaked so bad.
