Avent Baby bottles are claimed to be miracle-workers, literally, when it comes to gas in babies... They are of very good quality, look clean/pristine/modern, and you can wash them all you need, but continue looking good. The one thing about them: they didn't work for my Son. My Son was born a preemie @ 34 wks, and we know that some are born with acid reflux. My Son would literally vomit after every feeding, not only due to gas, but also to the fact that he could not keep anything down. I tried breastfeeding him but he just didn't like it, so I would pump, and pour my milk onto these bottles. They are comfortable to hold, and my Son seemed to like the latch he would have with the bottle's nipple. BUT, no matter what we did, he would swallow TONS of air bubbles that the Avent bottle would create.. Supposedbly, it channels the air to the back, keeping it away from baby.. But with my Son, it just wouldn't happen. Not to mention, the fact that after every suck, milk would pour down freely from under his lip/down his chin, and we would always had to have a bib around his little neck AND a washcloth to absorb all the spilled milk. The lids of the bottles would sometimes leak, even though we would make sure that the lid was fastened JUST right, not too tight, not loose. There was just something about the nipples tip and base that would cause alot of milk to drip down from my Son's mouth. We finally did away with these bottles when we noticed that he was so uncomfortable due to gas, and would throw up after basically every feeding. We then decided to change over to rival Dr. Browns, and all his feeding probs. were gone entirely. With Dr. Brown's, he was able to have good/comfortable feedings, NO GAS, and helped his acid reflux INMMENSELY.. I am sure Avent Baby bottles work for alot, if not most, babies, they just didn't work for mine. I wanted them to work, because they are a BREEZE to clean, but I rather prefer, of course, that my Son was happy, healthy, and comfortable. We do what's best for our Son, & will continue to do so for him & our following future children.  =)
