Works exactly as advertised

Take your time. Read and follow the instructions carefully and exactly. Some tips. 1. Clean the window with windex and or alcohol. It has to be clean for the tape to stick. 2. Unfold the plastic completely. 3. Don't get the hair dryer too close. Really. keep it 4 - 6" away. 4. Be sure and include the taped area when you are using the hair dryer. 5. Take your time! It's not hard but is a little tricky. It's like applying shelf paper.

follow the directions and the tape sticks well

Noticed a lot of complaints about non-sticky tape. I didn't have that problem. Perhaps because I put the tape on a clean, dry, warm surface (indoors, not outdoors). If you store the package in your garage, it should be brought to room temp first before applying. My problem with Frost King is that they changed the type of plastic they use so that it is cloudy and makes my windows look dirty. Box after box of the stuff from various stores has the same icky, dusty, hard to see through plastic.

It seems like a good idea. Put a big sheet of saran wrap over your windows in the winter to prevent drafts from getting in and warm air from getting out. Too bad it doesn't work too well. The kit comes with sheets of clear plastic shrink film. First you apply double sided tape along the edge of the interior window sill. Then apply the clear film to the tape and use a hair dryer to shrink the film to fit the window and smooth out the wrinkles. Heres where the problems creep in. After shrinking the plastic, the tape usually only holds for about 12 to 24 hrs before coming loose. The tape ***WILL*** come off the window sill and/or the plastic will lose its grip of the tape. I have tried to use this product for the past 2 years. I have never had one of these applications not fail. I have tried several different techniques to get the tape to stick. I always clean the window sill to remove dirt. Then I allow the clean area to completely dry. Then I apply the tape, and I usually let it set about 1 day before exposing the 2nd surface of the double sided tape and applying the plastic. After applying the plastic, I let it set another 24 hrs before using the hair dryer to shrink the plastic. Still no matter. The tape will not stick to the sill or the plastic. I think it would be cheaper for me to let the cold air in and spend the extra money on heat, rather than pay for this plastic shrink wrap junk that doesn't work. 3M also makes a similar product. I will also try their version, but I fear the same result.UPDATE:I also tried the exterior kit made by Frost King, and the same holds true.  They also don't tend to stick very well.  My exterior window plastic came down half way through the winter.

Garbage, do not buy.

Just wanted to throw one more voice into the mix. I bought this today, and like everyone else is saying the tape does not stick to the plastic. The tape sticks to my windowframe just fine, just not to the plastic in the box. Garbage. DO NOT BUY THIS. Waste of time and money.

Would be great if it stayed put.

My experience matches many others here:  Within one day of putting this up on a large window, the tape pulled loose at the bottom and sides.  The tape simply can't withstand the intended heat-shrinking that pulls the clear film taut.  Since the film now has been shrunk, reattaching (or even replacing) the adhesive is futile.  It was great while it lasted, but I had in mind months or years, not just a few hours.  Putting it up, while not exceedingly difficult, was time-consuming enough to make this outcome particularly frustrating.  Seemed promising (and a previous shrink-film on the same window did the trick for a few years), I have to suggest avoiding this product.

What a Waste!

We bought this product after a few people recommended it. I don't know how some are able to get the tape to stick; we are applying it to clean, metal outer frames of our windows. My husband & I spent over 2 hours on one small window above the kitchen sink. Tape didn't stick to the frame. Tape came off when we removed the backing. Using the hairdryer (thinking perhaps it was too cold to stick) yielded no favorable results. Finally got it kinda stuck, whipped out the hairdryer again and it shrunk ok, well enough to pull the tape off the frame in some places and off the plastic in other places! One person who recommended this stuff claimed their retired mother used it to cut her heat bills in half in a very old drafy house. For all of you who are reviewing this product favorably, please share your secret! What kind of material are you applying the tape to? Are you waiting the recommended 15 min before removing the backing & applying the plastic? Are you waiting longer? I really, seriously want to know. We usually don't have trouble with do-it-yourself stuff like this!

Installss well, dubious of its benefits

Just installed this producing on 3 windows, one regular and 2 extra wide windows.  Everything adhered well, tape is clean, got most of the wrinkles out of the film.  My windows are fairly new so there are no leaks around the perimeter so i'm not expecting to cut my heating bill in half here but i'm still having serious doubts re the benefits of this film :) Used the hair dryer with no issues I guess time will tell

Frost King window kits are a great product

I love frost king window kits.  Living in Michigan the winters can be nasty.  I have never had a problem with frost king not holding up through the winter I would recommend this product to anyone in a cold climate.  I just finished all but 6 of my windows tonight and will finish the rest and be ready for old man winter tomorrow.
