Decent service, terrible customer service

2

I have used Frontier for several years. The actual Internet service is ok, although it does cut out quite often, and I need to restart my router quite often. The most recent router that they gave me also does not have a very good range. I sometimes have trouble getting a signal in the next room. The worst thing about Frontier is the customer service. Several times I have had to call in and been left on hold for well over an hour. It usually takes three to four calls to solve an issue, and each different customer service representative says something different. So I have followed what one said and then called back in to finish fixing the problem, only to have the next representative tell me that it was the completely wrong thing to do. I now measure the worst customer services I have with any company to how close they come to Frontier's terrible customer service.

Frontier Is Just Okay

I have been a subscriber to Frontier for about a year now. The area that I live in only had two service providers. We went with Frontier because of the cost. However, we have had our fair share of disappointment. In this case as the saying goes, you truly get what you pay for. We were quoted a certain speed and that is not what we have been receiving. After having some loading issues, my husband downloaded a speed test on his phone to check the connection. This is how we discovered we were not getting what we were quoted nor what we are paying. My husband called Frontier and asked them about our issue. The representative nonchalantly told him that there's nothing that can be done about it. The only reason we still carry Frontier is because of the cost and that we'll be moving soon. Once we move, we're going to drop Frontier and switch to a fiber optic provider.

Frontier has worked well as long as we don't need to deal with their customer service. Speed Previously, our Internet was not overly fast by today's standard. If we tried to do things on more than one device, particularly with video (like Netflix and mlb.tv) at the same time, then it could not keep up and would often freeze. We were upgraded to a new router and service last week. So far it seems to be much better, but we'll have to see if it keeps up. Reliability We occasionally have Internet outages, but they are rare. The bigger problem we have had is with our wifi cutting out. The router is on and connected to the Internet, but the wifi signal will not work. Our new router seems to have improved this problem, but we haven't had it long enough to see if it has fixed it permanently. Customer Service On one hand, Frontier is great when they give courtesy calls to see if service can be improved or prices can be dropped. On the other hand, they are very hard to work with at times. About a year ago I called in for a problem with service. The guy said we were paying to much and to call a particular number to have our priced dropped. I called about four times, spending several hours on hold and on the phone. Each time I called I was told something different about what I needed to do to get a lower price. The fourth time called I was told the lower price was only for new customers and that if I got it my service would be cut off for trying to cheat the system (the guy said it in a friendly warning-not accusing me of doing something wrong but telling me how their system would see it).

Run away as fast as you can, horrible service

The worst internet provider I have ever dealt with. Waste of money and time, well unless you want internet that is out more than on and when it is on still runs as slow as molases. Speed Worse than dial up I used to have way back in the day, sure hope you don't have any deadlines because chances are you'll have to go to the library to finish what you pay to have in your living room. Reliability We had them for 2 years well because they we're the cheapest and well you know that old saying" you get what you pay for" yep so true. The internet connection was always going down some times for hours/days at a time. And they always had the same excuse "were upgrading the lines" yea right. And when it is on it would cut in and out every other page. Customer Service Good luck trying to get any kind of straight answers they were always beating arounf the bush.

not the best out there.

During certain times of the day Frontier holds up to its standards for speed and reliability but 7-10 times I find myself re-booting the router. I have two computers running off the router to access the internet and it seems like every 10 minutes I have to re-boot the router because it fails to keep a connection. Frontier said there is not a problem with the router go figure. It seems it is never the company to blame for faulty equipment but the customers end. Speed is very slow at during times of the day. Weekends seem to be worst for slow speeds and during the week late in the morning I get the best speeds. The prices are somewhat a bit high compared to when other name brand companies offer the same speeds and equipment for lower prices. Sadly, where I live I am stuck with frontier because they are the only service provider in my area. If it wasn't for this reason I would switch service providers in a heart beat. Over all yes frontier is good 15% of the time but I don't recommend hooking up more than 2 computers to their wireless router. Speed The speeds are slow during peak hours it seems when school is out when most business are closed meaning more people in my area using the internet it seems at the same time. Maybe if they had more servers or something the speeds would be better. Security Security is an issue I have never had with Frontier. When I browse the web I am safe, I pay my frontier bill online and never had any issues. Reliability The equipment like the router box and such needs to be upgraded. I swear I have to keep getting into the routers settings and re-booting it which takes 5-10 minutes each time just to turn around to re-boot again within an hour. Customer Service Customer service is like a flip of a coin. Sometimes it sounds like I am talking to someone reading a teleprompter or a book who doesn't obviously know what the heck they are talking about.

Overpriced & Underperforming How Are They Still in Business

If you can avoid this company, DO SO! You will pay for services that you're not actually recieving. You will get horrible tech support. You will wait 5-14 days for them to fix THEIR problems. You will NOT recieve credit, even when they assure that you will... About 4 years ago Verizon left my area and sold to Frontier, since this happened it has been an uphill battle to have consistent internet service at a price that's double what I paid Verizon... I had Vonage which was always failing because Frontier was giving me less than 1/2 of the speed I was paying for and had been for MONTHS. When I called Frontier to remedy this it took them almost 2 weeks for their contractor to appear and flip a switch... They promised a credit for this error, a credit I have yet to recieve even with multiple calls. Last month my service went out because someone else on my block got service and the contractor hit the wrong switch and shut mine down... An hour of hold times and another WEEK and they flipped the switch and turned my service back on... Again a promised credit, that I never received... I loose my internet service every other month on average for 12-48 hours. They always promise a credit and I have NEVER recieved even a dollar on my bill. My bill has tripled since Verizon left. They never notify me of increases prior to the bill either. I just end up with a higher bill which forces me to call and inquire... My only alternative in the area is Comcast which is even higher per month for a stand alone DSL line, as well as an outrageous installation/activation cost... It appears that I am stuck. If you have ANY choice, I STRONGLY urge you to choose anywhere but Frontier for your internet needs. YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED. Speed The speed is fine when they actually give you what you're payong for. Most people cannot test this on their own (I know I didn't know how until Vonage taught me how to monitor this). Security I have never had any issues so I must assume that it is alright. Reliability I loose internet service on average 12-48 hours every other month. Sometimes 2-3 times in one month for 1-2 weeks at a time... Customer Service The reps are nice but they never do what they tell you they will. I would rather have a curt rep that gives me the credit they promised than a sweet rep that lies...

A joke of a company with bad services and even worse custmer svs

I requested high speed and they install dial up. The home phone was twice as much as they said it would be. Also, they do not bundle with DirecTV unlike they told me when I ordered the service. I've also sat on hold for over an hour to contact customer service. Speed Dial UP! Customer Service I've sat on hold for over an hour to contact customer service

Want slow speeds, up to 30% packet loss, and awful tech support?

1

Among many things, the local tech support they have hired are all over the age of 30 and more-than-likely uncertified redneck ignorant ... I think I'll stop there. They have 100s of Information Technology and Information Systems students to choose from if the needed more qualified employees. Here's the bottom line about this company: **THEY DO NOT CARE!**Let me explain to you how their process works. They get you to sign a contract saying "You must pay us for x amount of time in order to get our service" where x equals most likely more than a year. They also are the only local DSL company in Statesboro, so they have even less of a reason to care. They provide DSL to all of the student housing apartments, meaning the lease offices pay for their services in bulk and include the actual DSL fee into each student's individual rent. This is why this company continues to suck on and on for years and years without improving the quality of its lines.Since I've moved to Statesboro, the connection has degraded from 2400 kbps down, 385kbps up with 1% packet loss (minimal) to 1250 kbps down, 145kbps up with10%-35% packet loss (holy dog**** unbearable packet loss). This is the main issue: Packet Loss. Through their local lines, they have extreme routing issues and most likely bad blades at every hub you hit along the way. If you are a power gamer such as myself, you will not stay connected to any game you play on this connection for more than about 30 seconds. This also goes out to those who would use Video Conferencing (not gonna happen on this connection)If you are confused as to what packet loss does to a connection, the 1300 kbps doesn't mean a single thing, because once you lose enough packets, a distress signal is issued by your router and the connection resets (YOU GO OFFLINE FOR 15 SECONDS OR SO...)So there you have it... Every 30 seconds, if you're sending enough packets, you are going offline for 15 seconds while your modem resets its connection. Honestly have fun with this company, and I personally hope some group actually takes them to court soon.

The WORST internet service provider in new york

1

I have been a customer with frontier for almost 3 years. I would like to start out by saying that if I ever need tech support, they are right there to tell me that something on my side is wrong although it is never my side. All but one techy I had sent to my house has been clueless about DSL or any technical part about networks in general. I would switch ISP's but they are theonly "high speed" around in my area. All i ever ask for is a reliable and steady connection, and yet they never deliver. I have a problem right now that has been going on for about a week, which has been random disconnects at any point except at nighttime. They had the problem fixed for 2 days, but then they "fixed" their servers and the problem started up again and frontier now thinks its my line again sigh....... If you ever need this connection for anything remotely serious as for business uses or for small amounts of gaming, i desperatly urge you to exhaust EVERY other option for ISP's in your area, as with frontier you will waste time, energy, and money wishing for a better connection that they might deliver for a month or 2, but then cause a massive amount of errors afterward with subpar techy's who could not hook up a computer to a LAN network.
