February Is The Best Time To Buy A New TV

Looking to upgrade your TV? February might be the perfect time to buy.

What is the best time to buy a new TV? Well, it might just be this month. February is a great month for consumers to take advantage of deep discounts on a variety of products. There are several major shopping events that impact product price reductions, making it a prime time to save money on many items we’ve all been waiting on for the best bargains of the year.

Flat screen TVs

In early February, flat screen TV discounts are front and center with Super Bowl sales events and the news of new 2014 HDTV models from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January kickoff a perfect opportunity for consumers to save big dollars on quality upgrades. 2013 is trending for price reductions on bigger screens of 47” to 60”. Consumers will find a large selection of LCDs, LEDs, Plasmas and prime savings on Home Theater bundles ramping up through February and on into the March Madness deals as retailers look to thin out 2013’s overstock and make room for these 2014 models which start to show up in stores late April.

Cameras, smartphones, tablets

Other electronics like digital camerassmartphones and tablets will also be available at reduced costs in February for much the same reason as flat screen TVs. If you’re using older technology with these products, it’s a great time to grab a newer version. Those looking to upgrade these products to the newest models may want to wait for timely sales later in the year (like Black Friday and Cyber Monday).

Presidents’ Day deals

We don’t often think of Presidents’ Day as a major sales event, but in fact, it’s the best time of year to take advantage of winter clearance items. Retailers use this 4-day event (Hint: Sales start early on Friday before Presidents’ Day, which is Monday, Feb. 17) to start winter inventory clearance on a variety of home appliances and housewares. Expect some of the lowest prices of the year on humidifiersspace heaters (if you can find them after this brutal winter) and air conditioners. Housewares savings include huge discounts on bedding and bath accessories, small kitchen appliances, furniture and up to 50% on premium mattress sets.

Remember, it’s still winter (most places), so hold off on snow removal product savings for a month or two. If you’re waiting for that tax refund, there will still be remnants of February’s steals available at even deeper discounts in March, although selection may be limited.
