eMachines 250

This has been a great little computer (going on 2 years) with no real complaints. The Atom 1.6 is a bit slow, but barely uses any energy compared to other processors. The upgrade to 2gb ram from the stock 1gb was a good move. Readyboost is ok, and the sd card reader is nice feature (kinda makes up for lack of drive), but limited (3) on usb slots. Easy to connect to larger monitor and speakers, and good wireless connectivity. Keep the power cord handy for anything more than 3 hrs of use.

Slow Buy A Real Laptop Instead

When I first got my emachine netbook I had high hopes for it's usefulness. All I really wanted to do was to check my email and blog with it. It seemed like an easy enough task that a small netbook could handle. It handles checking emails easy enough. When I went about reading blogs I ran into problems. The processor could not handle loading blogs that have advertisements on them. Opening more than one tab is almost out of the question. Sometimes I have to walk away and come back to let it finish loading. Another thing I dislike about this computer is that the you can not hear the speakers. You must plug in a pair of headphones if you wish to hear anything. I wish that I had invested the extra money to buy a small laptop instead of a netbook. I guess if you do not have high expectations for speed then you will be pleased enough with it. If like me you expected a little speed for simple tasks like checking email or reading blogs this is not the computer for you.

eMachine netbook is cool!

I have never owned a laptop. I have a desktop that I use mostly, and have never really had a need for a laptop. However, I decided to try out a netbook so that I could use it to message my friends while I watched TV, and so that I could take it with me when I travel. I mostly use it for games, checking email, and instant messaging. I love it. It was one of the best items I have ever purchased. It was fairly inexpensive, it is small, fits right on your lap, and easy to take with you. I have never had a problem with speed, or connecting to the internet. It does take a while to get used to the keys and the mouse, but once you get used to it, it's not too bad. I like the fact that it is small and light. It doesn't seem to get too hot like some laptops do. I also have many pictures on it games, and still have a lot of memory left. I guess it depends on what your going to use it for if a netbook is for you. My next purchase of a netbook will be an eMachine, as it seems to be a great product!

decent laptop easy to take with you

I am not a tech genius by any means. but with this netbook I can definately feel like it.  For my needs I did not need anything big or bulky. I just use it to surf the web, play a few games and chit chat with my friends. This netbook is so portable, where as laptops are huge. This netbook weighs less than 3 pounds and is something you can carry around anywhere. The keyboard had great sized keys and Im never worried about hitting a different letter. The screen is great, decent sized and good picture quality. I love that this netbook has 3 USB ports which makes it easy to hook up to a tv, and an extrenal hard drive, and hook up a mouse to it. The only thing I really dont like about this netbook is the battery life. It seems to run  out very quickly and you always have to have your charger cords with you. That is not a big deal if you have access to a plug but if your in a resturant its not that easy. I would definately buy this netbook again but maybe with a backup battery next time.

I wouldn't recommend it...

I bought this eMachines Notebook PC in January of this year and I am highly dissatisfied with it. The Internet Explorer was very slow from the very beginning. It freezes, and it always shows that there is an error, so I have to restart it a few times every time I use it. I tried to upgrade it to a newer version a couple of months ago and I still have the same problem. Well, I started using Google Chrome, which is a little better, but it freezes too sometimes. This Notebook restarts every time there is a new update, so if you don't save your files and information, everything will be lost. Another issue I have with it is the battery. Maybe three or four months ago it started blinking all of the sudden. There is a small red circle next to it with a x in the middle, and when I click on it it says: " Consider replacing your battery" and it does not hold full charge. It is not even a year old yet, so I would definitely not recommend it to anyone. Don't waste your money!
