Amazing Success Rate
I'm friends with one of the founders of eHarmony, and I see him once or twice a year.  In 2005, he told me, when I inquired, that eHarmony was responsible for 1% of all the marriages in the U.S.   When I saw him a year later, in 2006, he told me that the statistic had changed, and it was up to 2%!  We just saw him in May of 2007...and now the number is THREE PERCENT.  Wow!

eHarmony Setup
The setup for using eHarmony is pretty detailed;  compatibility is based on 27 different factors.   Plan to spend some money and some time detailing your true preferences and attitudes;  my friends who use the service say that part is time-consuming and not inexpensive, but that's part of the deal.  If you're serious about having a happy relationship, this is an investment you're probably willing to make.

eHarmony Matches
When compatible matches are sent to a member, he or she can read them and make an initial contact by selecting a few pre-determined questions to send to the person.  If that person remains interested, they will make a reply contact, and it goes on from there.

Keep us posted
If you have personal experience with eHarmony, and are wiling to share your experience, please post a comment here and let everyone know how it's working for you!

You did NOT personally experience the system...All it does is extract money constantly from people. It in my opinion, does NOT encourage a relationship without a Annual FEE. It does not update changes till 3am. People are NOT forthcoming as one may wish...

In response to jannagrayjet's comment from May 14, 2008 at 1:42PM:

You're correct, I have not used the service, as I've been married for 18 years. But I asked my best friend to try it and she has now been dating an eHarmony match steadily for 6 months, and is quite happily. I'm sorry you haven't had the same experience!

In response to juliemaire's comment from May 28, 2008 at 10:16PM:

Hey juliemarie,
My friend is not the doctor, he is in banking and venture capital, and his dad lives in Naples, so I see him on the occasion of his father's birthday each year. The doctor you're referring to is probably the fellow in the TV ads. I don't know who he is, but I will stick up for the integrity of the company any day of the week. I, too, am cynical about certain things, but you will find that I'm a fulltime professional writer (see my own web site) and can't afford to pretend to be someone I'm not, while using my own name. Cheers.

So Libby I am sure you are the Dr himself writing positive reviews. Everything you said is a bunch of crap. The Dr is a fraud. He scams people. How can you stick up for him. Oh wait. This is the Dr himself writing good reviews because most of them are bad.

Clearly you have not used the service and are reviewing it based on your acquaintance with one of the founders. I haven't had personal experience with this site, but my sister has been a member for a few YEARS and has not had a reasonable match yet. She can't even re-evaluate her answers to questions or change them. People change, they should have the opportunity to update their "personality profile".

I have been very unhappy with my E-Harmony experience. I think your friend is blowing smoke about those marriage stats.
