Taking surveys for rewards is a habit I started many years ago. Back then, there was no internet and surveys were sent via regular mail. The process was time consuming, but it worked and you usually received cash money for your efforts. Today, there is a virtually endless sea of survey sites on the internet, offering cash and merchandise rewards. One of them is E-Rewards, a site that rewards you each time you take or attempt to take a survey.
Survey Site Commentary:
E-Rewards is just like most other survey sites in many regards. The site sends periodic surveys to member's e-mail accounts whenever a potential match has been found. Members then click the link and they are immediately launched into the survey. There is no need to logon or remember your password at this point. The e-mail link takes you straight to the survey action.
E-Rewards offers surveys on a wide range of topics and they tell you up- front what the survey is going to cover. They also indicate the approximate time it will take to complete each survey and the potential reward payout if you finish the survey to completion. It is nice to know roughly how long it will take and whether or not the reward is worth the effort, but keep in mind that the estimated time to complete a survey is usually overstated. The actual time is almost always less than what it says, so don't let the idea of spending 40 minutes on a survey sway you- it will likely take less than 30 minutes to complete.
Many survey sites require that you pass a qualifying round of questions before you can take a survey, but many offer you nothing if you do not qualify. One nice thing about E-Rewards is that they offer a minimum reward. Even if you don't pass the qualifying round of questions, you will still get a small reward of 25 or 50 E-Reward cents just for making the effort. This is a nice token of appreciation and I wish other web sites would follow suit.
Speaking of qualifying, one strike against E-Rewards is that a low percentage of survey opportunities result in passing the qualifying round. This means that your E-Rewards earnings can take many months to accumulate. Not only that, but the surveys expire very quickly. You will know when you click your e-mail link and a message informs you that the opportunity has expired. Often, this can happen in a single day so you have to act quickly.
From what I have stated so far, E-Rewards might seem like a good survey web site, but there is one fact that prevents me from making a recommendation: The awful reward options. Most all of the reward options are for money off of an online purchase and most all of them require that you make a purchase that is much larger than your reward. Take Ebags.com, for example. One of the options is to cash in fifty dollars of your E-Rewards money for fifty dollars off of a $150 purchase. I can search the internet and find coupon codes that are almost this good, making the award barely worthwhile. There are only a few options- like one for $25 at FTD- that do not require a minimum purchase. Of course, even these have one drawback: You can only use them once per calendar year. This greatly limits the incentives to continue taking surveys for this site.
Bottom Line Viewpoint:
E-Rewards is an acceptable way to waste time. It could be vastly improved if the management of the site would improve the awards but until that happens, it is a survey site to avoid.
