I had a hard time rating this product...for such a low-cost lip gloss, I expected to get 2-star quality. It felt really weird to rate a product that cost me a buck 5 stars!!! But I'm definitely one to give credit where credit is due...
My e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 came as part of package deal...the e.l.f.2go travel pack, which I got for a whopping $4.00 at Big Lots. Encased in a plastic travel baggie, I got the lip gloss, therapeutic conditioning lip balm, eye brightener (white eye pencil), shimmering facial whip, and shine eraser (blotting sheets). All the products, including the travel bag, are approved for carrying on planes and are intended to help you look fantastic after a long flight.
My favorite part of the package is the lip gloss. This pack came in light pink shades...the lip gloss is called pink kiss...a very light, sheer feminine shade of (you guessed it) pink. The tube and packaging don't list the amount, but compared to my other tubes of gloss, I'd estimate that you get approximately 0.5 oz. in a clear plastic tube. The tip is slanted for application directly from the tube onto your lips, or it could, of course, be applied with fingers or a brush. The gloss smells slightly like candy, faint and pleasant. It has a very light sweet taste (which I looked up online and found out is grape vanilla). I was amazed at how smooth the gloss is...no tacky, sticky feeling at all!
I am absolutely floored by the quality of a lip gloss that cost me less than a dollar! The color quality is great, the smell and taste are fabulous, the texture is super, and it has the built-in sun protection! This gloss really makes you wonder how some of the fancier companies can justify their prices!
Addendum 9/24/09: After using this gloss for a few weeks, the tube cracked so now gloss oozes out every time I squeeze the tvube to apply it. It has to be wiped off with a tissue before I can screw the cap back on, so unfortunately, now I can't carry this gloss with me or it makes a mess everywhere. The actual product is still fantastic, but e.l.f. needs to work on the tube to reinforce the plastic. I read another review in which the writer identified this problem with her gloss as well, so it's clearly not an isolated problem.
