A couple months ago, I made my first purchase at eyelipsface.com and bought several things.  I bought mascara, concealer, eyeshadow and nail polish.  I couldn't believe the prices so I was excited to try everything out.  The e.l.f. Nail Polish is the last thing from that purchase for me to use and I should have expected it to be the same quality that the other e.l.f. products were - mediocre to poor.

I don't do my nails very often.  Being a mom to a ten month old doesn't give me very much "me" time, so I usually skip doing my nails so that I can do other things for myself like spend time online or read a book.  Since my husband is off for the holidays, I figured now was a great time to do my nails.

Like always, I applied a base coat and then the first coat of nail polish.  I waited until later that day to apply the second coat so that it could dry properly.  After two coats of the e.l.f. Nail Polish, you could still see through the nail polish.  The color is a deep burgundy, so you shouldn't be able to see through to my nails.  So I applied a third coat of nail polish!  After three coats of nail polish, my nails were beautiful.  They were the rich, beautiful burgundy color that they were supposed to be.

The day after I did my nails was Christmas day.  After opening presents and making dinner, I was finally able to sit on the couch and watch tv.  As I looked down at my new manicure, I noticed that not one or two, but three nails were chipped!  The e.l.f. Nail Polish is so thin that even after three coats, it easily flakes off.  e.l.f.'s claim to be chip-resistant is a joke.

e.l.f. says: "This color-lock formula with chip resistant shield gives long lasting nail color with high shine. The aerodynamic bristle design glides color on flawlessly, while the quick dry formula gives perfect application every time. Key nutrients give nails that natural shine, infused with Vitamin E for stronger, healthier nails.

The Scoop!

I am chucking this nail polish in the trash.  After I actually took the time to do my nails, the color doesn't even last 24 hours.  I should have read a book instead!  The only good thing I have to say about this nail polish is that there is no animal testing.

If you read any of the O.P.I. reviews you will see that is a plus. The nail polish, actually a lacquer hardly ever chips. The only part of the nail that would be missing polish is the part that I would put in my mouth. I constantly have the tip of my index fingers in my mouth and thus, I "chew" the polish off ;+/

I tend to do light, shimmery colors because when it eventually chips, it doesn't look as tacky as it does when a dark burgundy color chips. From my e.l.f. review, you can probably see how bummed I was after taking the time to do my nails with BURGUNDY and they chip the next day!

What! Not a lover of the finer things in life ;+) I collect nail polish like I do lip balm, lipstick, and pens. Right now I probably have about 20 bottles of really good nail polishes in one of the drawers in my vanity. I am always buying nail polish. If I'm at the nail salon I get OPI and if I'm at a store I will buy Salley Hansen.

Perhaps I should pick out a few shades and send them to you. What are your favorite tints? I love the mauves and reds in winter and coral and fuschia pinks in the summer.

No, I have never tried OPI before. I rarely do my nails, so my selection nail polish is pretty slim.

Now at least I know what E.L.F. stands for--thanks for the 411. I love the OPI nailpolish and Sally Hansen nail laquers. Have you ever tried the OPI? I did a review on them months ago. I love the fun names. Your polish above looks like my Whodo Voodoo ;+) ~Gigi

That's okay -- that nail polish might have sucked but this review is great and may save other people from learning the hard way. I hope your Christmas nice. Happy Holidays!
