Dog Breed Pug Review Summary

If you’re looking for a small, laid back, lovable puppy, pugs get the glowing review. Pug dogs are perfect for the owner who is looking for a loving, sweet, affectionate companion who thinks the world of his/her owner. The “clowns of the dog world,” reviewers say pugs are never in a bad mood, and live their long (if you take care of them!) lives in bliss as friendly, indoor dogs. One reviewer states that “the only chance of aggression [from pugs] would be from them licking you to death!” On the flip side, even the pug puppy’s biggest fans recognize that this love requires a lot of attention, and if you aren’t careful, your dog could tend towards obesity or other health problems. They also seem to both shed and snore but on the whole, owners seem to be extremely satisfied with this dog breed.

My daughter bought a pug since she lived in an apartment and she read they were good for that. I have never thought much about pugs. I thought they were funny looking and never gave them a second thought.

However, after she got her 8 week old female pug, I fell in love and totally thought different...

Pugs are a sociable, hyper dog with lots of energy.  They need alot of attention and are generally very intelligent.  They have glossy coats that come in mainly four diferent colors;fawn, apricot, silver or black.  They have a tail that curls over thier hind-end and because they have both an undercoat...

When you see a pug puppy you cant help but say aww! They are fascinating little dogs with a big spirit! if you dont fall inlove with their bulging eyes, the gurgling growl, the constant snoring, your not human! They are loving, spontaneous and just down right goofy, they can turn a cloudy day into sunshine!

Perfect dogs for small homes and apartments

GREAT with children!

Low to moderate grooming needs

and no 30lb bags of dog food needed! well unless you have a pack of pugs!

Pugs are wonderful little clowns and daily my Pug does something to make me laugh,it is like having a jokster running around the house, just wish they could talk!! I am sure they would have some pretty interesting things to say.

Seriously though, Pugs do need to stay out of the cold and excessive heat. They cannot tolerate heat because of their smashed faces; they cannot cool themselves off with their breathing like other breeds without the respiratory compromise. They are NOT outside dogs; in my opinion, no pet should be outside anyway, but, just my opinion.

I had raised Labrador Retrievers...

If you want daily laughs and daily love then get yourself a pug! They are the most affectionate dog I have ever owned.  They love to cuddle, especially if you let them sleep in the bed with you.  The will burrow under the covers and lay right next to you and nestle themselves on you.  Beware they do snore, but hey if there is anyone else in your home who snores too then they can have a contest! Mine do.  Their wrinkles just make up for grunts, snorts, and spontaneous sneezes, but that just makes them extra lovable.  They do not do well in heat as they do tend to get hefty if not exercised...

I saw the movie "Milo and Otis" when I was four years old.  I Immediately decided that I wanted a pug of my own.  It took me nine years to save up the money I needed to but my dog.  But I did it.  For my thirteenth birthday I bought myself a pug puppy.  I named her Baby because she is my baby.  I must say, I couldn't be happier with my choice.  She is such an entertaining dog.  Yes, sometimes she snores when she is sleeping.  Some people find it to be irritating.  I happen to think it is adorable!  And she might snort a little snot on people, when she is breathing, every once in awhile. ...

Pugs are a special breed  of dogs. They are loyal, loving and an all around amazing animal to have in your home as your pet. They require lots of love . They are totally devoted to their master, and love to be on your lap at all times. They will go out of their way to please  you ,they are laid back as adults but are wild energetic and loads of fun as puppies. Pugs tend to have alot of eye and hip problems, so one needs to watch the weight of their pug ,and also need to keep regular appointments with their veternarian to check their eyes for various eye disorders. While my pug loves to go outdoors...

Pugs are an amazing family pet. I have just aquired my second pug, so I now have a 3 year old fawn male and a 4 month old black female. If you are looking for a good natured, humourous fun companion than the pug is for you! They are a minature comedian and also have a huge personality packed into a small body. They are so fun and so silly they will make you laugh and enjoy your day constantly. They are excellent with kids, have a wonderful temperment and are fun to be around. They do leave hair everywhere and if you don't like snot getting blown on you then a pug may not be your best option, but...

I got a puppy pug this Christmas!!! I never imagined myself as a pug lover, but I would have to say that they are on of the most loving companion dogs that you could have in a little townhouse. He is a all black pug so he doesn't shed as much as the Fawn pugs, which is a plus for people that love dog but can't stand the shedding. It is also very good for people with pet allergies like my fiance. Since I have had my pug, he has brought a lot of joy to my life, along with the usual irritations such as potty training, biting and not wanting to listen, but all and all they are good dogs. He is only...

Pugs are the best breed, in my opinion.  They are the clowns of the dog world.  Pugs, in my experience, are never in a bad mood. They aim to please their people. Pugs can have a long life, if given the proper care. We have two pugs, one 18 years old and one 3 years old.  Pugsy, our 18-year-old, is full of life and still a lot of fun. Elvis, our younger pug, is a little spitfire and totally fun to be with.  Pugs have the best personality; they're laid back and just want to be with their people.  Our dogs get along with our cats too.

The only cons that I can think of, and they're not deal breakers,...

When researching dog breeds that would fit our lifestyle, we knew a large breed would not be a good match.  We needed a dog that did not require a fenced - in yard or a lot of maintenance.  The pug is the dog for us.  Junior, our 8 yr. old male, is the most loveable dog.  All he wants to do is to sit on your lap and get belly rubs.  As the other reviewers commented, you need to be careful with pugs.  They cannot stay out in the heat or cold for too long b/c of their short noses.  They also tend to shed, but that's manageable.  The best part of having a pug is the constant love they give...

Pugs are cute-even with the rather flat faces. I have two of them presently. My pugs are both a white color, but I've seen cute black pugs too. Pugs actually don't shed on you too much, and they're small. They snort (I think because their faces are so mashed, and they have smaller airways) but they're also cute. They are great with kids but have horrible bad breath, and they snore very loudly. But they're so cute, friendly, and just generally loveable. Two pugs DO work better than one. My pugs pee sometimes, but can pretty much be trusted not to relieve themselves around the house. They are a nice...

Pugs are the sweetest most loving creatures in the world.  They are always right there for you and love to go anywhere you go.  I have a fawn pug and a black pug and they are just both soo incredible.  They love attention and will do the cutest things to get it.  I recommend them to anyone who can have an inside dog.  They do shed a lot; but every precious moment is worth the extra time cleaning.  Pugs are also great with children.  My nephew was horribly afraid of dogs until he met my little darling.  He went straight to him Mom saying that he now wants a Pug.

I have had the privilage of owning two different pugs.  They are fabulous dogs and friendly as can be.  The only chance of aggression from them would be them licking you to death.  Both of our pugs did suffer from some separation anxiety, but I wonder if that is because they just love their people so much.

Caution must be taken in extreme temperatures with pugs, they are not to be outside dogs.  Who would want them to live outside anyway?

Any family's looking to add a family pet to the mix should consider getting a pug. Their lovable, well tempered and always excited to see you.I have three children who adore my balls of fur. I own two myself a girl Belle who is 1 1/2, and a boy Pugsley who's 4. Their a lot of dog in a little body. They are needy though, you must keep their face's cleaned and you do have to watch out for there eyes's. But the reward of love you will receive is worth it.
