Hobe sound beach in Hobe Sound Fl is nice too...kinda crowded during season, but still a nice clean beach...I lived in Florida for about 8 years so Ill think of more...

Bath tub beach in Florida...the water is like bath water, so nice and warm....the beach is beautiful.

Castiglioncello, Italy.

I accidently stumbled upon it while traveling through Europe with a few friends in 2006. I think we were the only Americans there, but the people were friendly, the food was excellent, and the beach was beautiful.

We have a TomTom and although they are clearly not a neccessity I think what people have come to love are the extras: food, gas, shopping searching. My favorite extra that you get with the TomTom is how it can find the cheapest gas near you! My husband works for dish network & it comes in very handy on those 200 mile driving days!

Down here in South Florida it's pretty hard to get lost (until you enter Dade County). But I find I much rather turn on VZ Navigator than jot down instructions like, "take the second left or maybe the third and then go straight for like about a 1/4 mile until you see a tall building...."

Yeah, this Knight of the Road likes GPS.

Well,just got a brand new TomTom XXL530 and its been fun all the way.We are planning to drive to Las Vegas and we are going to use it all the way.I call it my wife's new toy.The voice promtiping you to turn left and Right is kinda cool to listen.The screen is eye catching as well.My wife has programed her workplace,to church to my workplace just for the fun of it.It sto[s talking when you are at an intersection and not moving but when you make a move,you hear the sweet voice again,directing you where to go and the time for you to get there displays below it.Its so much fun as far as Im concerned but when we drive we will be 'eyes wide open' so we dont get too carried away when we are at a strange area.I will suggest for new users to study very carefully and closely and when driving take time to make sure you are on the right lane and when prompted follow as long as you carefully stay on the correct lane and not blame the GPS.

Havent tried out the other features yet as its just 2 days old today.Its so much fun when you hear the voice directing..What a product.Wonder who first invented this..

I've found that less is often much better for me and the kids. For example, my 5-year-old says she enjoys going to Wal-Mart as much as she enjoyed Disney World. My 2-year-old thinks we're in a Winter Wonderland when we walk through Lowe's to see the Christmas trees and yard ornaments. My 8-year-old loves to look for the Grinch yard decoration when we're driving down the road with the radio tuned to a Christmas station. It's a bit simpler, cheaper, and less stressful sometimes just to hang around the house or to go to somewhere nearby and enjoy a "staycation" at times, especially with little ones.

That's so true. Really people have to use common sense. We are going to Israel in May and will not NOT go to a busy market place but we will be more careful than we would be in the states. Having said that my daughter works in L.A. where the military train their docs because it seems to be the toughest city in the country!

We will spend 3 nights in Jordan again in an American hotel (though my husband and I were we alone would have opted for the Boudoin tent:)

Seriously though, how clueless does an American have to be to go hiking and "accidentally stray into" Iran or North Korea? It's not like a national boundary is the size of a shoe box or that there aren't alternative venues for hiking.

Whenever I read one of these stories, the first thing to pop into my mind is: CIA.

Good poiint, From time to time I see news articles about the Americans who were hiking and accidentally crossed into Iran. They were arrested and are being held captive - charged with spying. The penalty for spying is Iran is death. And all they were doing was hiking on a scenic trail. Very scary.

Awareness that is what I usually try to do, but for my November vaca I only had 3 vacation days left so in order to spend 5 days in Vegas we had to come back and go straight to work.

So to follow up with my post from above. We flew in a bit early (12:30 AM) got home by 1:15ish and I was in bed by 2. I had to be up and at work by 8:15ish. I was there - and oddly I had a lot of energy that morning. But then afternoon came and I started to get tired. We went out to eat after the all day meeting and I was really tired. Went home and passed out.

But was it worth it? Yep :) If we only had 4 days in Vegas we wouldn't have been able to do all the things we did. Next year I get an extra week vacation, so hopefully I won't have a situation like I did this year where I have to go straight back to work the day after I return. Yawn! That is too tiring.

I've found that the best way to avoid "I need a vacation from my vacation" syndrome is to come back a bit early (whenever you can get enough time away to warrant it), like on a Saturday if you have to work on Monday. That gives you a day and a half to nap, pay bills, or whatever, when you get back.

I feel like I need a weekend from my weekend just about every week though.

I haven't been there, but a close friend of mine had his honeymoon there, and from his account it's just as good as any of the marketing would have you believe. Go for it!

I would avoid traveling to any country where there is a credible threat of being kidnapped for ransom or ideology or of contracting a chronic disease.

Kidnapping in (most of) Mexico is off the charts.

Tse-tse flies, ebola... well, you get the idea.
