Thanks for the insight Rudi. Currently I am leaning towards a Chamberlain unit as they seem to garner the most favorable reviews from what I've read. Chamberlain also happens to private label their garage door openers under the Craftsman brand (though not all Craftsmans are manufactured by Chamberlain).

I have a 1/2 HP Chamberlain Liftmaster (chain drive). We had it installed to replace the previous Liftmaster that was 18 years old. It came with 3 remotes and a keypad mounted outside the garage.

While chain drives seem the loudest, I believe they outlast either screw or belt drives.

I've been coming across quite a few people who have been satisfied with their Craftsman garage door openers. It also turns out that there are two companies that manufacture them for Sears, and from what I've read, it seems that one is better than the other. Thanks for sharing your insights. Look forward to reading your review.

I've purchased and installed a couple different Craftsman garage door openers from Sears, and never had a moment's trouble. The last one is installed on a double-wide door on my detached garage, and it's been working fine for 15 years. All the remotes (three of them) still work with occasional battery changes. This is a chain-drive unit, as were the others I installed. I've never had to adjust it or do any maintenance -- if it died tomorrow, I'd think I got my money's worth.

Gee... I ought to review it!

I'm new here and I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Haan Steam Cleaner (seen on TV) and if so, what are your thoughts on it. I've been looking at the Shark and the H2O, but I'm really wanting to go for the Haan brand.

Thank you in advance.

My 100 year-old garage is undergoing a major renovation - including getting a door door that will actually open! So of course I'll need a garage door opener to go along with it. It has to work well in the midwest's hot summers and cold winters in a detached garage. Any recommendations? Any brands to avoid? Chain, screw or belt drive - have a favorite?

Sorry to hear about your plant dieing. We bought one of those kits similar to what you had and we had a hard time growing them too. There are a lot of ways to grow plants and each type of plant can be unique. Tomatoes I would reccomend you get your own pots and soil to start. Place the seeds 1/4" under the surface of the soil and place in awarm sunny place. Keep the soil damp to promote germination until the seeds sprout. Once they sprout you must be a little more particular with the sprouts. Too cold of a breeze, too stiff of a wind and they could die. Keep them in a well ventilated but wind restricted environment. (Anything similiar to a green house effect to stop the wind and keep them in a warm environment.) Once the seedlings are 2 weeks of age or so, you can give them a very mild amount of fertilizer to help give them a boost, From the time they sprout until they are 2 or 3 weeks old, overwatering will kill them very quickly as well so it is better to give them a "little" amount each day rather than water until they are "wet". You will find after they are about 6 to 8 inches tall and ready to plant outside, they become a lot easier to grow. I hope this helps and good luck!

Lysol Nutra Air Sanatizing Spray

I like this stuff. It smells really good and kills bacteria in the air so if someone comes over sick and coughing you can just sray some and kill the germs.I like the morning dew scent. It isnt gonna prevent the flu but will keep the air santaizes tempoarily. The bottle is not super big, mine is purple my favorite color and I buy this stuff maybe once every two to three weeks. It is good if someone smokes in the home.It mask the odors and if you have pets it also keeps some of those pesky pet scents at bay. Most of all it is inexpensive and makes your house smell great.
