How do I close my account at Viewpoints?  Thank you.

I have no idea, but I'm wondering why?  I read your first review and it was very well done.

I'm sure there's an email link to one of our Community Liaisons.  They probably can help you.

I don't know either. On your homepage you can click on "more" which will take you to your account information that you can edit.  I don't see a delete account option though.

I also read your first review- looks great.  Are you sure you don't want to hang around for a bit?

The easiest solution is to send a message to either Meredith or Jolie and they will help you out.  I do hope you will choose to stick around for a little while though.

Thanks for your comments about my first review.  When I wrote it I formatted it into paragraphs so it would be easier to read, but it didn't show up that way.  Oh well.  At least you liked it.  :)

I came to Viewpoints from MyPoints.com and when I realized the MyPoints requirements (900 word reviews and such) I decided this was not something I am interested in doing.  However, if Viewpoints has other things to offer me I would consider sticking around.

What are you hoping to find here? What do you want?

I used Epinions.com a few years ago. Is this smilar?

Often when I am looking to purchase a new product I try to find reviews from folks like me who have used it. It helps me to decide if the product is for me. I'd like to help provide those reviews to others.

Does this site pay members for writing reviws? I'm pretty sure Epinions paid me, but it's been a while since I've used it so I don't remember exactly.

It's just 900 characters not words. 900 characters is only about 150 words. Really that is not hard to attain at all. Just count up the words your posts have in them. You're practically there!

Hope you stick around. It's great seeing that people from the net read your reviews and that you may have influenced their buying making decisions.

Wait a minute, before you leave --- it's not 900 words, it's 900 CHARACTERS.  As you are typing your review, you will see that there is a counter there which counts the characters as  you type them.  A review that is 900 characters (letters, etc.) is not as long as you might think.

So I do hope you will stick around!

Sorry, Patty, I didn't see that you had already explained it to her when I replied to her message above.  It seems like a lot of people are misunderstanding the 900 character thing.

Yeah it sure does appear that people misread characters as words. I think it would be better to put a word count on than a character count. I mean, there is very little difference between 150 words and 900 characters unless someone is using 15 letter words. I think it would be simpler to say a review has to be 150 words. Characters just don't seem to register as well, even to me. It's much easier to visualize words than characters.

I agree. However, it's probably a LOT easier for Viewpoints to count characters than words. Still, saying 150 words is much clearer to the average person than 900 characters.

I believe they usually say "900 characters (approximately 150-200 words) in advertising, or at least I saw that before.  Trouble is, some don't get past the 900.

Maybe people can't believe how short a review needs to be here in order to qualify, especially if they came from Epinions where 900 characters would probably get you a "somewhat helpful" rating based on length alone.

For some people, even 150 words is very long and hard to achieve. As someone who tends to be long winded, it's hard for me to really understand. It seems easy to simply talk about a product and come up with 150 words to do it. I do come across reviews that will repeat a sentence over and over just to get to a word count. I see that elsewhere as well but they are quickly hidden. Here, we really have to be vigilant to catch those reviews and mark them as inappropriate.

Maybe the wording could say 150-200 words (900 characters or more) so that people see 150 first and don't jump to conclusions though.

I can't see that the difference between stating 900 characters versus the corresponding number of words should make that big of a difference since the editor counts them for you while you're writing, unless it's just psychological, though I just started here, so maybe that's a new feature too?
